“Wonderful choice for Bangkok”

JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok

We spent a wonderful 4 days at this hotel as a base for our Bangkok sightseeing and cannot fault it in any way. Be prepared when you arrive to be persuaded to upgrade but it is not such a bad deal and worth looking at.

The service is exemplary and the staff all charming.

“A fine US hotel....enjoy life in or out of the bubble”

JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok

Mar 23, 2008

This JW Marriott is a luxurious well run American hotel in bustling Bangkok. That is the good news..... and a constraint.

The good news? I enjoyed my comfortable well appointed room with more than the usual US amenities and a nice view. Courteous service on check in and check out. Strong support in business services. This hotel is located in a shopping and restaurant neighborhood with lively if seedy street scenes. It is between two skytrain stops that offer ready access to the rest of the city. If your destination is served by the skytrain, you will find transit faster than a cab during rush hours. Absolutely no complaints. Nice to be able to count on a reliable JW Marriott experience with a bit of the extra friendliness of Thailand.

The limit? This is life within a US bubble, albeit a very nice bubble with Thai accents. Those interested in breaking out may do so easily. One morning, I walked east on Sukhumvit a few blocks, then north into a quiet upper middle class residential neighborhood. One afternoon, like many foreign visitors, I did the mandatory visit to Raj the tailor for custom fitted shirts and learned about the Punjabi subculture in Bangkok. On two days, Thai friends of longstanding took me into their homes and work. But with friends or without, try to break out of the international tourist/business bubble to get some sense of the ordinary lives of the millions of people of this amazing city.

“Another Great JW Marriott”

JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok

This is another great JW Marriott. Great rooms, exceptionally clean and well presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is about 40 minutes from the airport in the city centre.

Also this is in quite a good area. Plenty of bars and places to eat for the evenings, because of this I didn't eat in the hotel.

The price I paid for this hotel is good as well about £260 for 2 nights.

“First Class Experience”

This was an exceptional hotel. I don't have any real negatives. The rooms were very comfortable with terrific views. The location was very good. Most importantly, the staff catered to every need and didd it with a smile. In addition, there was an excellent choice of food from a good buffet breakfast (included in our price) to great chinese food, we loved the Peking Duck, and great Thai food. There was also a bakery/cafe on hand.

I would stay here again and it was a great choice for a business hotel.

“Wowed by the JW”

OK, maybe I do most of my business travel in more pedestrian hotels, but Wow! The service just blew me away. I had happened to drop a frequent flyer card in transit and they ran it up to me within a couple of minutes after I'd lost it. There was almost offense taken if you tried to do anything by yourself that they could help with. Everything about the service was fabulous.

If there was a negative, it was the bar prices, they were unconscionable given the prevailing rates. The restaurants seemed to be a pretty decent option and for dim sum on Sunday were packed to the gills, I wasn't able to get a table.

The room was excellent -- large shower, separate bath, great bed, an AC that you could flash freeze produce with, reasonable mini-bar prices. All in all, the JW Marriott was more than I ever suspected.
