“Cool and Chic”

Dream Bangkok

Apr 21, 2008

We stayed at the dream hotel mid march to attend a wedding. Must say the experience was a good one. The hotel has a chic vibe. The rooms were spacious, clean and had a modern look. I was little shocked with the neon lighting under the bed–a bit cheesy for my taste but they had regular lighting as well. Younger kids might enjoy that lighting though. The rooftop pool/restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful in guiding us to the places arnd. The rooms were cleaned on time and the supplies were always stocked. The beds were a little hard for me. The food was nothing special but ok for a simple breakfast. It is well located- about 15- mins from major malls and walking distance to the Skytrain. Overall a great experience and the prices were stunning!

“Blue lights sooth you to sleep. Shame about the pounding nightclub beats”

It's a nice hotel & very chic. As you come to expect - "boutique" is often a code word for small rooms, and this is the case at Dream. Despite the small rooms, the fit-out was lovely. the blue lights to encourage deep sleep were a lot of fun, if a little weird, but you can turn them off if they are freaking you out!!
The pool is across the road at Dream 2 - on the roof - and it's ok, but nothing to rave about (and lacks shade form the midday sun). And there are only about 10 sun lounges, so it's standing room only at the popular times.
We had a problem with breakfast. We were told when we checked in it was included. We were told at the restaurant the next morning that it wasn't included. When we asked them to check, they came back & served us. Of course, when we went to check out, we were presented with a bill for $50 USD for breakfast. To their credit, after some negotiation, they reversed the charge.
BUT, the biggest problem is the nightclub. Despite being 3 floors above it, the sound thumped through the entire room - until 3am... It was bad for us, but I felt really sorry fro anyone staying below the 5th floor. They told us proudly when we checked out that it's open every weekend night. Great! Thank goodness for the blue lights!

The Dream Bangkok was, for me, the perfect antidote to the big letdown of the Sofitel Silom that I had stayed at previously. Whereas the Sofitel is stodgy and boring, the Dream has a very cool lobby with a postmodern fountain and funky furniture, low-light hallways and what I thought were awesome rooms.

I see that some people are complaining a bit about the "snug" feel of the accomodations but honestly this was one of those cases where I actually found it really cool -- with the dropped ceiling and brilliant use of materials to create a total Ken Adam feel. The huge plasma was a plus and the recessed lighting is very well done. I felt very comfortable and loved eating my continental breakfast there in the morning.

The only downside would be that the room did have a bit of a lingering stale odor to it, and the walls are on the THIN side. I could hear my neighbor's TV very clearly, and judging by their conversational tone the volume was not cranked too high. That finally stopped around 1 AM. But I'd still stay at the Dream Bangkok again. Great location off of the Sukhumvit too.

“Great value, well situated”

We spent three nights in this hotel in early April, 2008. The hotel is extremely modern which could be a problem for some. However it was very clean, everything worked, excellent bathroom and shower, the breakfast was included and a choice of continental, american, thai or other and was copious and delicious, the service was first class. The hotel is a half block from Sikhumwit and only three blocks from the sky train. On top of all that at $120/night we thought we had excellent value. Careful though, booking locally is much more expensive, we used otel.com.

“Enjoyed My Stay At Dreams Would stay there again”

Having preconceptions about Bangkok itself we were greeted at the airport by a member of the dreams staff, who took our luggage and drove us to the hotel. With Bangkok being a bit of a dump, I feel that Dreams stands out with some of the other luxurious hotels that around and about Bangkok. Although it appeared that the people occupying this hotel appeared to be in Bangkok for business more than luxuries I don’t feel they would of being missing out on a great deal with all the facilities being available were quite small. With my partner and I being quite active individuals we didn’t spend much time in the hotel, but I do believe that if you are the type of person that wants to stay in the hotel all the time that maybe dreams isn’t the hotel for you, there isn’t much going on and the bar on the roof top where the pool is situated is very small. I wouldnt put this down as being a total bad thing just more personal preference more than anything. The staff were extremely helpful, making restaurant reservations, VIP seating’s for Muay Thai, liaising with the arrogant cab drivers to put the metres on and booking appointments with the tailors. The hotel rooms were great, spacious extremely clean with DVD players and Sky TV in terms of cleanliness in a facility it was right up my street. Free internet service was available 24hrs which was helpful for us as we were moving on to Islands and need to check book and confirm other hotel bookings. In terms of the hotel and the staff I don’t have a bad word to say the hotel is very hip and modern and I enjoyed staying there. On the other hand I can see why some people have previously said it’s a bit overrated and I think that is down to the facilities available etc but its in a good location and I think its somewhere worth staying.
