“A great hotel”

We stayed here for the first 2 nights we were in Thailand for our honeymoon.

The hotel itself is of a very high standard, your first impression is of the lobby which is very impressive.

I was slightly dissapointed not to be upgraded to a deluxe suite, our travel agent had made it clear we were honeymooners but this did not hold any weight. We were offered an upgrade but at quite a high cost.

The room was substancial and had an excellent view of the river, i believe all rooms in this hotel have a river view.

We ate lunch in the hotel and it was satisfactory, certainly not the greatest lunch we had and rather expensive for what it was. Although the buffet selection looked amazing if you wanted anything more than a snack.

There is a very nice pool on the 4th floor which also has a small 'beach/sand' area. The service at the pool was excellent.

The hotel is ideally situated to see all of the sights but it is far away enough from the very busy parts of the city. Transport to and from the hotel is very cheap with a taxi costing less than £2.00 to pretty much anywhere in the city.

On a slightly different note if you are looking for a restaurant i can highly recommend the pier restaurant at the Banyen Tree Hotel. This is easily one of the best restaurants i have ate in and the restaurant is stunning (expect a large bill at the end of the meal). You can also access the Moon Bar which is a open top roof bar 60 floors up, the views are amazing and the cocktails are fantastic!

“You'll never forget the view!”

We stayed at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok for 4 nights at the end of April this year, and I can’t speak highly enough about our stay there! Having visited Bangkok on a number of occasions, we decided to opt for a hotel on the river this time. Having searched the various options, the Hilton had a good location and a good rate so we decided to give it a shot. We also decided to push the boat out a little and go for the Executive Package which included breakfast, all day snacks and evening cocktails between 6 and 8.30 (smart advice #1).

We arrived around 7.30pm after a long flight from London via Dubai, were immediately escorted to the Executive Lounge on the 31st floor and given cold drinks (icy Singha beer and a cocktail), just the thing after a long journey! We were immediately impressed with the lounge, one of the nicest I’ve experienced and with breathtaking views over Bangkok that we never tired of throughout our stay.

Already feeling at home after our refreshments, we were shown to our room. As explained, we’d opted for the Executive floors so the room was excellent but as some other reviews have mentioned, maybe a little small. So, on a holiday-start high and buoyed with icy Thai Larger, we decided to go the extra mile and for a little more money we upgraded to a suite (smart advice #2).

I’m lucky to travel a lot with my work and have stayed in all different levels of hotels all across the world, but I have to say that the suite in the Millennium Hilton took my breath away. It features a vast lounge that curves round half the front of the hotel giving the most amazing views of the Chao Prayha River and right across Bangkok. The whole suite feels huge with a large lounge and office area, a good size bedroom (both with those panoramic views) and large bathroom and dressing area. The finish on everything was of the highest standard, ultra modern but with a Thai influence. Flat screen TV’s in both rooms and a hi-fi in the lounge, great for Bangkok’s cheap CD’s!

Now, on to the location. A read one review that mentioned the Millennium Hilton was on the ‘wrong side of the river’. Technically yes, as the bulk of the city is on the other side, but from the hotel, you get those magnificent views and there is a private boat that takes you across every 20 minutes (to River City or Taksin Station). And if you’re too impatient for that (me!) there are 2 commuter barges that constantly criss-cross the Chao Prayha so you can be over the other side in 5 minutes for a whole 3 Baht!

So after site seeing and shopping in Bangkok, or just chilling at the amazing pool on the 4th floor, we could relax in our suite before heading to the Executive Lounge for cocktails. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and the food and drink selection for evening cocktails was fantastic! Beware the ‘Long Chao Prayha Iced Tea’, a local spin on the potent favourite! Some quality cocktail time in the Lounge made a perfect springboard for an evening out, or not out, depending on how many Iced Teas had been consumed…..

This was a really excellent stay at a hotel that without doubt, I would use again and happily recommend to anybody. Always ask for a high floor (for those amazing views) and if you can run too it, go for the Executive Package (breakfast and cocktails included, it pays for its self) and finally, if you’re going to go the whole hog, take the Suite, you won’t regret a Baht of it!

Thanks to all at the Millennium for a fantastic stay!

“Nice”

The World

A 2 year old hotel, but felt like it's older. Stayed for 7 nights at the Executive room, which is must smaller than most other hotels' Executive rooms, but at least the bed is very comfortable and nice city/river view. Love the jacuzzi tub, nice rain shower, though waste of space underneath the sink, I kept thinking there should be a drawer in that bathroom. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, always tried their best and they genuinely smiled, too. However, the male workers in the Executive Lounge, none of them looked like they wanted to be there. Great view from the 32nd floor bar, nice idea on the 'beach' swimming pool. Great lunch buffet at Flow restaurant. And the girls at the Business Center were all very professional and tried to help the best they could.

This is the place to go if you want quality with cutting edge decor and amenities. The lobby takes your breath away. The staff is very attentive. The rooms are a bit small, but gorgeously appointed. The rest of the facilities are simply WOW.

You have to stay here if in Bangkok.

“Thieves at 5 Star breakfast”

Millennium Hilton Bangkok

May 12, 2008

We were suppose to stay for one night between great holiday in Hia Hina and return flight home in this hotel. It turned out to be two nights and great lesson. Hotel was great and the rooms were really nice. We had very enjoyable dinner in hotels chinese restaurant and felt like this was the best way to finish our holiday. Next morning there were only 4-6 quests at the same time with our family having breakfast -so the restaurant was basicly empty. There was one male waitress -who was not so smart and tidy appearance like the rest of the personnel. He came over and fixed and changed our son´s (7 years) napkin. After 10 minutes, we noticed, that my wife´s handbag was gone. There was nobody else around the table, the bag was under it and there were all the time someone sitting by the table.
So, the money, cellphones, passports card etc. were gone and there was 20 min. before leaving to airport. Needless to say, we could fly home that day. The action of the personnel were very frustrating -nobody did anything exept standing around and wondering -oh, maybe the bag is in the room.. There are securities in all exits and pier , but I had to run myself around the hotel and yard to ask fro anybody to seen the bag. And they have walkie talkies. So, be very carefully and do not leave your bags unattended for a second. Once it is out of the sight, there is no way it can be found again -whether it is inside or out of the hotel. Total loss for our family for this breakfast was more than 11.000 € -thank God there was insurance.
We had help from the stuff for new passports and police, since it was Songran time, all the offices vere closed. Without this episode we would be happy to go back to this hotel again.
