“Amazing Hotel!!”

Swissotel Nai Lert Park

5 of 5 stars

This has to be the best hotel we have ever stayed in!!

Pros:

- Room is large with a nice balcony overlooking a garden.

- Bathroom is great and shower pressure is excellent

- Staff are wonderful and willing to help you with any problems.

- Pool and Gardens are amazing and help you relax after shopping!

- Gym is excellent and you can even do aerobics!

- Buffet breakfast and room service food is yummy

Cons:

- Hotel is slightly out of the way. We did walk to Pantip Plaza/Central World a few times. This took around 25 minutes. The sky train is about a 10 minute walk. Taxis are cheap though (out the front of the hotel)

- Hotel used to be called the Hilton. Many taxi drivers do not know where the hotel is. The best thing to say is "Nai Lert Park Hotel". Don't mention the world Swissotel or Hilton, as this will confuse them.

- Always make sure you have the do not disturb sign on your door, as housekeeping barged into our room a few times while we were in there.

- Internet is expensive to use

- Not many TV channels (mainly news channels)

Overall this is an excellent hotel and we will be coming back here again and again!!! We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bangkok.

“Dangerously shoddy”

Swissotel Nai Lert Park

Feb 23, 2008

A disastrous stay from the moment I opened my room to find a near-nude man in my room. To be fair the hotel then upgraded me to a suite. Unfortunately the second room came with a dangerous combo of a broken light and a black bench at the end of my bed. After falling badly, I went down to seek help from the front desk (for what later turned out to be a broken hand). I was offered golfing ointment and was sent out alone to wander the streets of Bangkok at 2am to find treatment. Very poor indeed.

Management Response
Viroonk, Manager
(Management representative)

Thank you very much for your letter dated 7 January 2007 in regards to your recent stay at Nai Lert Park, Bangkok. We are terribly sorry to hear that you have not recovered yet from the unfortunate accident occurred in your room during your stay from 7th to 9th of November. The management would like to reply separately on the various issues.

1. Check-in process
I truly apologize for the incident occurred during your check-in. The fact that an occupied room has been wrongly allocated for a new arrival is due to a non respect of our internal check-in policy from the ousekeeping and the front office department. This issue has been addressed to the respective person in charge to avoid such problem in the future. As compensation, we would like to invite you for a week-end stay in our property during your next visit in Bangkok.

2. Accident
Having had the opportunity to investigate the matter and referring to your letter, I understand that our night crew did not give you a personalized service in providing transportation to nearest drugstore and I do apologize for it. For your understanding, our staff has not the competency to give medication to our costumers. We provide nurse assistance within the hotel through third party from 8.30am to 5pm. After these hours our staff has the instruction to recommend external medical centers as no professional support is available on premises.

We are sorry to hear that your health situation has gotten worst despite several doctors visit and medical care in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately these complications are beyond the hotel’s responsibility. We truly hope that the doctors will find the right treatment to heal your hand.

I remain at your disposal for further assistance and hope to have the pleasure to personally welcoming you in the nearest future.

“Wonderful front desk staff and beautiful grounds, but a few drawbacks”

Swissotel Nai Lert Park

Just back from a trip around Asia that included a 5 night stay here and overall had a pretty positive experience at the Swissotel. The pool area was absolutely gorgeous (rainforest-like), as were the common areas and the front desk staff were immensely helpful with suggestions for shops, markets, giving directions, etc. I also loved the breakfast buffet, which included both Western and Asian breakfast options (shrimp shu mai and French toast, anyone?)

The room was pretty nice but I do have some minor gripes: When I entered the room I immediately smelled a faintly musty/moldy smell (to be fair, I'm a bit of a clean freak, so it probably wouldn't have even been noticeable to anyone else). The woman from the front desk came up and offered to switch me to another room, which she took me to see, but that too had a bit of a musty smell. My room had old dark brown carpet, and (as I later learned) was not one of the "renovated" ones, to which I could have upgraded for an additional $20/night. I didn't bother since I liked the layout of my room better. I eventually got used to the smell, which again was very faint. Another thing that could have been better was the mattress - very hard and uncomfortable.

Also the hotel is a bit off the beaten path, which is great if you want to escape the craziness of central Bangkok, but not so great if you need an ATM (none on premises!) or want to be able to walk to restaurants and shops. The front door staff will gladly summon a cab for you, however, and the PhloenChit SkyTrain stop is within walking distance.

Overall the good outweighed the bad and at about US$140 a night, the hotel was a bargain. With the lush pool area, it's a very good place for some R&R.

“Nice hotel in out-of-way location”

Very nice hotel which is more geared to business travellers. The hotel seemed to be near a lot of embassies/consulates. It is in a location which isn't that convenient but the sky train is about 5-10 mins walk so not too bad.

Great pool and bar areas. The food and drinks are very expensive in Thai terms. I would suggest eating and drinking in more local places where it will cost a tenth of the price
