“Lovely stay”

Tamarind Village

We stayed at Tamarind Village in Chiang Mai Thailand for 2 nights last week. It was a near perfect stay.
Our room was comfortable, quiet, cool and simply decorated in typical Thai style. The bathroom was tasteful with excellent soaps etc and we were supplied with beautiful traditional style robes.

Breakfast consisted of western and Thai foods - almost everything that one would expect from a first class hotel. The service in the restaurant was impeccable and the food at both lunch and dinner excellent but rather more expensive than could be found outside.

A beautiful pool although rather shallow at one end and good loungers available. you are tightly surrounded by lovely grounds containing native plants and trees and the approach is impressive through an avenue of bamboo.

The Tamarind Village is a haven of peace and is highly recommended for those who wanted an understated but top end of the market experience.

“Overblown but still nice”

Tamarind Village

I think it is important to keep all these reviews in perspective. We stayed at the Tamarind and paid a massive amount ~ 200USD. For this price, I expected better. Under the guise of "boutique hotel", the rooms are basic and austere. The fixtures, mainly, came off. The ladder that holds towels fell on me. The sink tap cover came off loose and at one point, the flsuh did not work. There was minimal storage space. The rooms are dark and no light enters until mid day. Yet despite this, the place is truly lovely and I may still stay at teh same place. On this third visit, though, we footwalked to many other places to scout more choices as we really felt we had overpaid and got little in return. For 1200 Baht for a massage per hour, and 300 outside, that is an indicator. I also found the crowd to homogeneous - too many Germans and we Asians stuck out like sore thumbs.

“Qiet oasis in Chiang Mai”

Tamarind Village

We staid 3 nights at Tamarind Village. It's perfectly located, very quiet, Standard room was nice, service was excellent, restaurant served great food. Had a massage at their SPA. I would definitly go back and I strongly recommand this hotel. I just hope they won't increase their rates, as they are in my opinion in the high range for this category.

They booked us a tour with PATARA Elephant Farm, but we had a bad experience (expected service/activities not fully delivered and poorly handled).
