Just a short trip outside Chiang Mai, it's well worth the cab-fare. This jungle paradise feels so removed from the surrounding city- it's a little escape allowing you to unwind and relax before or after a busy day exploring. The family takes such good care of their guests, and they are a wealth of information. The rice-barn "huts" are so unique and romantic. Excellent breakfasts and great tour of the grounds with the owner. He even provided us with our own fern spores to start at home-
Free internet. We rented a scooter for our 5 day stay and enjoyed the freedom to cruise around the countryside.

Stopped for a few nights at the start of our Thailand trip and felt instantly relaxed from the very start. We stoppped in the middle price range room and found it very comfortable and spacious. Getting into town is easy, Om will call a cab for you and it only costs a few quid.

It's a good idea to stop on the way to the hotel for a bottle of wine or 2 as I'm not sure thay sell any. Breakfast in the mornings is a beautiful affair, the foods Ok but it's the location. Food on the evening is very cheap and very tasty.

Basically you'll love it.

I stayed with my niece at the Fern Paradise for 4 days in March/April of 2008. Even before we left California, I was happy to be so lucky as to be staying at a place so lovely, where the owners so obviously cared about their guests. Om was great with returning emails and answering questions about our stay. He met us at the airport even though we arrived at 9 am on a Sunday morning. We were coming to Thailand to volunteer for a week at the Elephant Nature Foundation, our stay at Fern Paradise was broken up by our volunteer week. Om kindly let us leave some luggage at Fern Paradise until our return. Any sight seeing arrangements he gladly handled, an in house massage, dinner at Fern Paradise, every detail he would gladly handle. The family is wonderful too, I really enjoyed the "Fern tour " given by Om's father the last day of our stay. Fern Paradise is a true blend of "Culture and Nature". I would not dream of staying anywhere else in Chiang Mai.

if you want a hotel that's a complete contrast to the centre of Chiang Mai then this is it.

Set 10 minutes out of the city centre the name of the resort lives up to it's name - it is a lush green group of rice barns set next to a small river surrounded by ferns!

the owner and his family made our stay fantastic - the service is excellent.

I was so curious to see what Fern Paradise was going to be like after reading such amazing reviews on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed! The rice barns are amazing and you are certainly not roughing it. they are so luxurious inside! beautiful platform style bed! they even have a TV inside the rice barn which i was not expecting. the best part was that they were so helpful during our stay. we booked the thai cooking school which was the best!! we had such a great time. the breakfast in the morning was such a nice experience as well because you sit out along the water in nature having your coffee etc. just such a wonderful experience that we will never forget. we loved chiang mai and fern paradise was a big part of that.
