“Heaven on Earth!”

Mom Tri's Villa Royale

I stayed at Mom Tri's Royal Villas in July 2007 and then again in December 2007. I loved it so much I have re booked for my entire family (14 in all) in October 2008. Mom Tri's is a little piece of heaven on earth you feel it from the minute you step through the gates away from the frantic bustling street life of Phuket. The staff are the warmest and most attentive I have come across, we always deal with the Guest Relations manager Sao (Patcharee) she ensures we are looked after from the minute we land. The Royal Villas is like a little boutique hotel nestled on a cliff between two beaches the main one being Kata Beach. The room rate is surprisingly cheap given the size and luxury of the rooms. The food is sublime as is the wine, be prepared to pay a bit more for wine in Thailand (as in Indonesia) cocktails and mixer drinks are normal prices.
I can't recommend this little hotel more highly it's totally enchanting.

“Absolutely Wonderful!”

We stayed at Mom Tri's Villa Royale in March of this year.

The hotel was wonderfu! The rooms are not modern but extremely classy and elegant which may not be to some peoples taste. I thought it was beauiful and the bathroom was very in keeping with the room.

The waiters at the restaurant were friendly and attentive. The breakfasts were very good and they would try their best to make whatever you wished. Lunch was good also and quite reasonable considering the portions.

We also ate one night in Mom Tri's Kitchen which I must say is one of the best meals I have eaten out ever and very romantic for a special treat.

Most nights we ate out and twice we ate in Jasmins which was just over the hill. The only thing that got on my nerves a little was the "tailors" trying to get you in on the Kata Road.

The beach was beatiful and very calm except the last day when the wind got up.

I will defintely return one day to Mom Tris but there is a lot of the world to explore before I go back!

You will not be dissapointed if you choose to stay here!

“Simply stunning”

This place was amazing. We wanted to stay in a boutique hotel, not one of those massive hotels with 100's of rooms.

On arrival we were greeted with a garland of flowers and a nice refreshing drink whilst we checked in. We were taken to our beach suite room which was lovely. Yes, its a tad worn but it had bags of character and in a nice thai style (not a soulless business hotel that could have been located anywhere). Our room had an outside bath and rain shower (as well as one inside!) that looked out to the lovely kata noi beach. The room was huge and every afternoon a food treat was delivered to our room and every evening someone came to prepare the room for the evening - candles, flowers and mosquito deterrents.

The location couldn't have been better - located on the hill top overlooking the stunning kata noi beach (much quieter and picturesque than kata beach which is more commercialised). You just have to walk down the hill to get to the restaurants in kata.

You could walk down to the beach and use the sunbeds or enjoy the three pools at the hotel.

Staff were very attentive and friendly. They couldnt do enough for you.

The restaurant was special. Looking out over the sea watching the sun set whilst eating delicious food and supping fine wine couldnt be beaten. Yes, more expensive than restaurants in Kata but head and shoulders better and reasonably priced compared to what you would pay in UK.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to those that prefer boutique hotels.

“Great restaurant”

Unfortunately we weren't able to book a room at Mom Tri's during our visit because they were sold out, but we did visit the restaurant....many times! It was the best food we had in Phuket and we just loved the dining experience, service and views.

The entire place was absolutely lovely and we were very sad that we weren't hotel guests as we discovered the rest of Kata Beach was a bit grim. The food was delicious, the service was warm and friendly and the selection was delightful. Overall, a wonderful place for a very special meal.

“I'd like to move in, thanks!”

Mom Tri's Villa Royale

We finally settled on Mom Tri's Villa Royale and booked in October 2007, staying in April 2008. I did become concerned about reviews mentioning dated rooms, infestations of various animals, poor food, indifferent staff, dirty swimming pools and overly expensive...
I needn't have worried.
Without a single doubt, of all the places I have ever stayed in, Mom Tri's is the BEST. From the cold cloths and delicious (and welcome!) home made iced tea on arrival, to the seamless and efficient check out, every aspect of the stay at Mom Tri's was perfection.
To address some previously mentioned concerns.... As far as "expensive" goes - DO NOT book with a travel agent, you will pay far too much. We booked a package directly with Mom Tri's Villa Royale which had many inclusions for much less than the rack rate with an agent. We were kept in contact and everything was confirmed by Mom Tri's. I would sincerely recommend booking directly via Mom Tri's website. Animal infestations? We have the same geckos living in our house in Australia, so no big deal there... I saw maybe 10 in the three days we were there. Infested?! Hardly! Dirty pools? One pool had a few leaves in it from the tree that overhung it. If the tree had not been there, it would have not provided the much needed shade for that spot. Being an Aussie and practically living in pools during summer, if they'd been dirty, I would have noticed! Expensive food? Not at all. Yes, you could have eaten for cheaper outside the resort, but we weren't willing to risk any potential hygiene issues! Dinner was fantastic, such great value, a set dinner of four courses and all sorts of extras for about the same cost as a main meal at a reasonable restaurant in Sydney! Dated rooms and general surrounds?! I found only traditional Thai architecture, which is (ahem) why I went to Thailand, not to wake up in a hotel room that looks the same all over the world! The room (beach suite) was just lovely, large, clean, great airconditioning, so unique, with stunning views. Loved every bit of it - the rain shower too! Indifferent staff? The friendliest and most polite staff I have ever encountered. No, their English is not perfect, but then my Thai is far from acceptable. Yes, there are a few steps, but to me that was part of the charm, if the resort had have been on a flat plateau the views would not have been so spectacular from nearly every vantage point!
The beach at Kata was lovely, beautiful clear water and the shared on-beach facilities at the Katathani were appreciated. It was very quiet, the Thai staff selling drinks and nibbles on the beach were lovely, and the sunsets were spectacular.
Patong was horrible. Tacky, grotty and the touts were a serious pain. Thank goodness for the serenity of Mom Tri's....
I loved the personal touches that made it seem more than just a holiday stay. Cold cloths provided frequently, cold water given without asking, little treats brought round unexpectedly, the beautiful floral wristlet, the orchids in the room.... I found there to be plenty of food, and excellent quality at that. Who wants to go to breakfast and be confronted with an endless array of food, and pay for it on the scales later?! The lamb massaman curry I had at dinner was the best by miles I have ever had, and I've eaten in a lot of Thai restaurants here run by Thai people. The cocktails were cheaper than at our local football club.... Phuket Kiss... Yum!
If you want to stay at a safe, sterile, cookie cutter wake up and you could be anywhere in the world, enormous buffet, no character, impersonal, faceless, bland property with a gazillion facilities you'll probably never use, then Mom Tri's is NOT for you.
If you want to stay in peaceful, beautiful surrounds, lovely food, really genuine friendly staff, TRADITIONAL Thai rooms and architecture, stunning scenery (with a few steps), a little bit of local wildlife and a serene, elegant truly Thai experience, you will love Mom Tri's.
Mom Tri's Villa Royale should be very proud of themselves for a truly quality, personal product that shows up resorts many times larger.
