Stayed in Nalina Classic for 3 nights (6th-9th May) and love the big spacious room. Bathroom has no bathub only shower heads and water pressure was powerful. Rooms with bathub were being renovated when we're there and you have to request for it when you booked your rooms. Big king size bed and the aircon was good. There is a 32" LCD tv but very limited choice of satellite channels and reception is poor. Complain to the management but they say there is nothing they can do about it. Breakfast was average, not much choice maybe it's low season and there is not many guests. Love the big swimming pool with jacuzzi and there is enough sunbeds for everyone. Tried the spa when we were given a one time 50% off voucher. It's FANTASTIC! All guests should at least try it once, its great! Hotel provide shuttle services to the beach and sundecks are provided free of charge for guests. About 10mins walk from the hotel there is a massage parlour by the name of Khun Nom that gives good value for money massage. The shop is opposite Sawasdee Village. You can also find small restaurants selling good food at this area. The hotel is 10kms from Patong and it cost 400BHT one way by tuk tuk or taxi and 300BHT return. It's expensive! Hotel taxi to airport is 900BHT. Overall, the hotel is superb no complaints!

“Absolutely amazing”

My partner and I recently made our first trip overseas to Thailand.

We were really hesitant in just taking flight centre's suggestion on which hotel to stay at, however after coming across this site and reading everyone's comments about this hotel, our mind was put at ease. Our first impression when we drove down the street was oh my god what have we done, but we were soon put at ease when we arrived at the hotel - it's an oasis.

We booked the plunge pool room, and we weren't disappointed. If you can afford the extra go for it you will not be disappointed at all! The first thing we found we wanted to do after battling Patong beach shopping or touring for the day was to go for a swim and having it right at your doorstep was amazing.

The staff at Alpina were really friendly - nothing was ever a problem, the rooms and grounds were clean and the buffet style breakfast and dinner tasted amazing. We weren't going to book breakfast as i was told from previous travellers that it's easy enough to get something on the street or head to McDonalds, but when you have days of tours the last thing you ned to do is head out of the hotel and race back - besides there isn't to much on the street that you could go for a quick breakfast at that time of morning. We found the food prices in the hotel (room service and restaurant) were very similar to what was being offered on the street so we decided just to stay in the hotel for our meals (thought it was safer).

We went to Alpina in the month of April which we found was very quiet at the resort which we didn't mind a bit.

The beers, spirts, soft drink and water in the hotel we found were a bit expensive considering what you could pay at the seven eleven down the street. For a bottle of 1.25L coke was about 55 baht (just over a dollar) .

The hotel is around 10 minutes away from Patong beach, it cost around 200 baht for a tuk tuk ride into the centre of Patong (unfortunately the hotel doesn't have free shuttle bus rides into the centre) .

If we ever go back to Patong beach again, i would definately stay at Alpina resort and spa again.

Our honeymoon in Phuket and our stay in Alpina was absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for more. We stayed at one of the Nalina Jaz rooms with direct pool access - and from the moment we stepped out of our shuttle van from the airport it was like being in heaven - except for the hot thailand sun!
We were greeted by smiling staff with cool towels and a really refreshing drink, and the hotel had everything u could want, from gorgeous wooden floors to a supercomfy king size bed, and the pool off our room was divine - clean and crystal clear with lovely landscaping so it gave u privacy from the main pool. Although the hotel seemed quite full during our stay it was very quiet mainly catering for honeymooners, families and people who generally wanted a relaxing time, NOT a noisy party hotel thank goodness!
The hotel provides a free buffet breakfust full of all sorts of western food as well as thai food, free internet, yummy smelling shampoos and lotions in the bathroom, and easy booking of activities eg elephant riding, etc. Overall just a perfect stay i will definitely be back next year!

“Loved the Alpina!”

Alpina Phuket Nalina Resort & Spa

My husband and I just got back from Thailand and loved the Alpina Phuket! Our room was gorgeous, hardware floors, plasma TV, rain shower in the bathroom etc. Try to get one of the rooms that walks out to the pool, they're amazing! The hotel isn't on the beach but a little bus takes you there everyday and there are reserved chairs for Alpina guests and an attendant to set-up an umbrella for you. All the staff were really accomodating and the food was good. Would definitely return.

“Quiet, Secluded, away from Tourist Traps”

Alpina Phuket Nalina Resort & Spa

Dec 5, 2007

We found this hotel through one of the many Phuket web sites through Google, and thought we would check it out both on Tripadvisor and the hotels direct web site.

Firstly, let it be known that this hotel blew our expectations away, both in value and beauty. If you have been to Phuket, you will know that many hotels have Tuk Tuks waiting on the doorstep to hassle you. Not the case here, as the hotel has a private courtyard. Very quiet location compared to Patong, and Kata is the preferred beach for peaceful breaks and amazing sunsets.

We stayed 7 nights from November 8th to the 15th. We requested two low lvl rooms about 2 months before arrival, smoking, handicap access, an all was delivered when we checked in. Check in greeted us by name with refreshments and towels, even though we arrived at the hotel at 11:00pm. Usual hotel routine, bell hop took our bags to the rooms plus they gave us a tour of the room to assure that we knew where everything was/ how to work the safe etc.

After settling in a bit we needed some food so we asked the hotel for local restaurants and they said they would cook us up something in their Pond Restaurant which was closed. (excellent food/ service both dinner and breakfast)

I know what the previous reviewer was talking about when it came to noise, but to be honest you can't hold other people's negligence against the staff. We had some noisy kids above us too who kept running around. Other than that nothing unusual. The bed in the room was comfortable for us both, but I guess it depends on what you are used too though.

There is a shuttle bus (or 15 minute walk) that takes you to the Northern part of Kata beach, where Alpina has their own lounge chairs etc. This is a good section of beach, away from all the major hotels and a little less quiet from the Southern part of Kata Beach. If you do not take advantage of Alpina's section of beach you will be charged anywhere from 150 - 200 Bhat by one of the locals, who sweep off your chairs and get you drinks/ cigarettes etc.

Overall the hotel was amazing, staff very efficient and friendly, so we're definitely going back there again. The only let down was other guests in the hotel were very rude and ignorant towards other guests, staff, and Thai culture/ lifestyle. I don't care who you are, you can't leave your towel on a chair at the pool in the morning, and then come back in the afternoon to claim that chair as your own. It doesn't work like that.

Some pointers before booking…make sure you request certain rooms upon booking, as not all rooms are pool access. Also, take advantage of the free buffet. It saves you having to get lunch, and food is great quality. There is a local laundry service across the road from the hotel that does Laundry for 40 Bhat per Kilo (about UK £0.45p). Take advantage of it, it’s quick, efficient, and less than 24hr turnaround.

We were sad to leave, but enjoy it before everyone else's catches on and prices increase.
