“Loved the Sheraton Hanoi”

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel

Apr 22, 2008

We stayed here for 3 nights in March 2008. This is a lovely hotel which is outside of the city centre - it was about a 10 minute drive. For us the location was ideal - it seemed very tranquil as it is away from the main drag. The hotel staff were excellent. The rooms were very nice, very clean, although it a bit on the small side.

“Great Hotel”

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Nr Loughborough
Jan 14, 2008

I stayed at this hotel for a conference and business travel. Although
it is not as central as some of the large hotels this was not an inconvenience. I cannot compliment the helpfulness of the staff enough
- they were fantastic. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Restaurants were excellent and there was plenty of choice for breakfast and lunch in the main buffet restaurant, with a superb choice and quality of food in the a la carte.

Drinks are served in the hotel in a comfortable relaxed environment until 11pm, however for those who want a late night drink with music there is a club attached.

The conference facilities were excellent with free wireless internet access in reception and conference areas (dial up in rooms).

Staff were very keen to help wherever possible. I would recommend this
hotel for business or pleasure.

“Tired hotel outside the city but Great Service!”

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel

5 of 5 stars
San Francisco, California
Jan 6, 2008

I was disappointed to see that the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel is located about 10 minutes north of the city downtown and the edge of West Lake. The hotel appears to be dated and "tired". It's more 80/90's Vietnamese-esque styling, then shiny and new nor colonial. The rooms were nothing special, but the bathroom has a separate shower and tub. There is an in-room safe and ironing board. I was on a Starwood Preferred Guest floor as a Gold member, so I'm guessing the amenities may be a bit better than the standard floors. Fruit basket was filled everyday along with complimentary bottles of water, coffee/tee, etc. Gym is decent sized and doubles as a membership gym as well. The main hotel dining restaurant is in the lobby and VERY NOISY. The menu is almost always buffett-style and the menu has almost no Vietnamese items. For Vietnamese food in the hotel, you'll cross the courtyard to the Hemispheres restaurant where it's quiet and the service is much better without much higher prices. The staff there was superb and they even altered the dishes I ordered to my liking. The busines center was okay and when I experienced a problem with a computer there, the attendant refused to charge me for the service. Oh yeah, I was there on my birthday and they hotel delivered a small and delicious birthday cake to my room. Wow! That's what I call making me feel like I belong!

There is a tennis court with attendant and the pool is okay. The West Lake area has its merits as being quieter than downtown and it's where a lot of foreigners reside. Right outside the main gate of the hotel, you'll find a few small grocers selling foreign products (e.g. wine from around the world, cheese, marmalite, chocolates, cookies/biscuits, etc). However, there is absolutely nothing else to walk to nor would you want to walk in this area because of the dust.

If you want to be in this location, then my recommendation is the brand new InterContinental hotel right next door. It's amazing and built right on to the lake.

    • Liked — Good for Vietnam, secure and a lot of visible hotel staff
    • Disliked — Location is a bit too far north of the city (given the traffic congestion)

“Great hotel with less than perfect service mind”

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Bangkok, Thailand
Jan 2, 2008

I fell in love with the hotel once i entered since vietnam is so ill-organized city.Dirt and loud noise everywhere...The hotel lobby was good-size and well lit.The front desk was okay and fortunately can speak english properly.Sheraton was so nice that i was automatically upgraded from standard room to preferred guest room when they coudln't find avalaible connecting rooms. My rooms were very nice and new with comfortable,i specially love 2000watt hair dryer since it was so powerful like the one i have at home. The bed was really plump and clean, they even offered 2 types of pillows so i slept very soundly that night. What was less than great about Sheraton was the service at Breakfast room.Every single staff was in very bad mood, they glared at you when you gently asked for something.I coudln't help feeling that i interrupt their day dreaming. But the food was very pleasant and so many to choose from.If you can look over the staff at the breakfast room,i'll say there's nothing amiss in the hotel.

“Exceptional Service”

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel

Dec 26, 2007

We stayed at this hotel in December 2007 for 4 nights. It is 10 minutes by taxi to the city center; there is nothing much around the hotel itself. The rooms were good size, clean ... pretty much what you'd expect from a Sheraton.

The first night the guests in the room next to us were a little loud. We complained to th front desk at about 2.00am and the duty manager was there within minutes to address the issue. He immedidiately spoke to the nosiy guests and offered to move us to another room just to make sure we don't get disturbed again. The next day there was a flower arrangement and a fruit basket in our room to apologize for the inconvinience to had.

All in all a great hotel with and exceptional staff who go out of their way to provide great service.
