“Nothing to complain about”

Hanoi Horison Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Lancashire, England
Dec 7, 2007

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a tour of Vietnam and had read some reviews before travelling that were not complimentary, especially about its location.
We thought it was a very good hotel, with excellent staff, clean, spacious accomodation and great breakfast. It also has a nice pool and bathing area with an infinity pool.
It isn't in the best location in the city if you want to be in a completely sanitised world but the local hustle and bustle made it seem that you actually were in Hanoi. It only took 10 mins to walk to several restaurants and we never felt threatened walking along the streets and alleyways even late in the evening. Don't worry about it and just go with it . A good 4 star hotel.

“Okay Hotel, Location was Lacking”

Hanoi Horison Hotel

Dec 3, 2007

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The hotel lobby, room, and pool were decent. The lobby had lots of local art displayed which was nice to see. We were the only ones in the pool one day. We had a view of the city which was a bonus. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Internet access was pricey at 50,000 dong for 30 minutes.

Location was lacking of restaurants, internet cafes, etc. I think the location was considered the older part of Hanoi. We finally found an internet cafe on the second night after walking quite a distance. We made it up by having che for dessert. The hotel's location ended up being okay since we were on a tour. Otherwise, we would have needed to take a taxi elsewhere.

“above average hotel”

Hanoi Horison Hotel

Booked Executive Room but was upgraded to Executive Suite room at no cost. It was a very huge room with living hall, dining table, one common toilet and king size bed with spacious bathroom.

My room was located at the 7th floor. The problem with all the Executive Suite rooms were all located at the end of the block. You have to walk to get to your room.

Overall, the room was ok. The bed + pillow, the toilettries are all great eventhough the lotion's smell was weird. The housekeeping was excellent. Stayed in the Executive Suite room entitled me with 3 laundry per day and the service was superb!.

The sauna/steam room was ok, acceptable standard. Stayed for a 4 nights, I'm sick with the breakfast selection at the coffee house. Its all the same eventhough the spread/selection was very good. The waiter/waitress was ok.

Outside the hotel is nothing much except for this few Singapore restaurant. Quite good taste though...

To get to town (i forget the name of the shopping street) from this hotel is a bit far, about 20 mins by taxi.

Overall, I enjoyed my 4 nights stay at this hotel and recommended for business travellers.

“Ok business hotel”

The Horison Hanoi is a bit of a mixed bag. Superficially, its a fairly decent hotel with ok facilities. Look a bit closer, and its a bit lacking.

Rooms are not bad, certainly nothing special. I had a club room, but it really had no special feature that suggested it was any better than any other run of the house room.

The bathroom was perfectly fine.

I ate breakfast in the executive lounge, which was a fairly small selection, but not bad food. I guess the benefit is that its a bit quieter than the full breakfast room.

The location is really nothing special, not close to anything of interest, but taxis in Hanoi are not expensive. The location tends to suggest it is a business hotel.

We had a function in one of the reataurants - a Chinese banquet - and the food was very good. I also ate in the coffee shop, which was nothing to write home about. The bar was also nothing special in terms of decor, and even less impressive in terms of selection of beers. They ran out of almost every beer other than Heinekin while we were there.

The hotel is certainly not a bad one, but don't come expecting anything grand.
