“Give this hotel a miss”

After spending 3 weeks in Vietnam staying at quality hotels the Elios was a big shock. The room was exceptionally small and smelt strongly of mould. After spending half an hour in room and finding it difficult to breathe we asked for another room. This one was even worse if possible. I tried desperately to find another hotel but all were booked out. Unfortunately our last few days or more specifically nights were spoilt. the staff obviously found it a bit of a joke until I sat in the foyer all night. Give this hotel a big miss I do not know how they can say they are 3 stars.

Dear madam,

Warmest greetings from Elios hotel!

We are terribly sorry to learn that you did not enjoy your stay with us at the Elios hotel. We understand how uncomfortable you felt.

We would like to reply to your review to make things clearer.

We are sorry that the STANDARD room that you reserved was not as big as you expected. As soon as we knew that you were not pleased with that standard room, our staff did show you another similar standard room which was also nice. You did not choose this one since it’s near an elevator. In the mean time we put a deodorizer in your room as your request. Then once again we suggested you to take a SUPERIOR PARK VIEW which is large and has a particular park view. We offered you this room with a special discount (the offered rate was much more lower than the rate of your current standard room). Unfortunately you did not even have a look at this room or visit it. You would like to stay in your room. The proposal of changing room was not accepted by you. On the other hand both the travel agent and our hotel did not have any request of changing the hotel as you mentioned in the review.

As you know being a hotelier the most important thing for us is providing an accommodation which can please guests. When you would not want to go to the room and sat in the lobby, it was a big anxiety for all of us. We did try our best to give some solutions. But you refused them. You could not imagine how happy we were to see you going upstairs to take a rest in your room. And it seemed that our staff offered two coffee with milk complimentary as your request in that evening, didn’t they? Therefore after all we had done for you, we do not think that we “found it a bit of a joke“. The guests’ well-being is the first thing we care for.

Madam, we regret that your stay was not as good as you and we expected. We are sorry for what happened. However please kindly note that we always try our best to give the best services and making guests feel at home while staying with us. We appreciate the comments that contribute to the vitality of our Elios hotel.

We wish you a wonderful time and hope to have a chance to welcome you back. We believe that you will have another good image about Elios.

With warm regards,

The management of Elios hotel.

pretty nice and new hotel in the heart of Saigon at Pham Ngu Lao Street, district 1.
We had a room in the 9th floor, pretty important in this area of Saigon with NOISE REDUCED windows.. Room had a large size with a 100 % clean bathroom. Service staff was helpful, breakfast was ok, not outstanding. The rooftop restaurant is a brilliant place to watch PGL area at night. 2 minutes walk from De Tham street with it´s coffee shops, bars, restaurant and travel agencies. 15 min to Ben Than market, 30 minutes walk to Rex Hotel .... All in all .... A PERFECT PLACE !!!

We stayed in the Elios Hotel March 13th - 18th, 2008.

We booked this hotel through our Travel Agent in Australia, so can not comment on the room rate, but I believe approx $50 pn.

This hotel was not part of the usual air flight and accom package advertised by VietnamHolidays as Saigon was very busy.

We were greeted with a welcome fruit juice on arrival.
This hotel is modern, very clean with attractive and functional decor. The staff are very polite and considerate and no request was too much effort, albeit their understanding of English was a little limiting at times. We stayed in Room 309 which was at the front of the hotel and overlooked the road below. Noise was less than other hotels and didnt really concern us, (unlike other Vietnam Hotels). The room was large and clean and very comfortable with firm beds. Air cond and pay tv were very efficient. The best thickest, softest bath towels and robes we had in Vietnam. Had large bath in bathroom and room safe and comp bathrobes. 2 comp bottles of water each day and housekeeping were a delight. Roof top restaurant has great view with an outdoor balcony. Breakfast was quite good for Vietnam standards, although there wasnt much variety in vegetarian choices except fruit..

3 internet pc available in separate small bar area and we were VERY IMPRESSED with this hotel. This was better than other 3star hotels we stayed at by a very large margin.

Will certainly stay here again on our next Saigon trip.

“Great location”

We stayed a deluxe family room as we were 2 adults and 2 children. The room was large enough, very clean and modern with a big window that looked over the park across the road. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was also very good - make sure you try the coffee - yum!!!
Only about 10 mnutes walk to the markets and close enough to the shops and eating places.
A great location and standard for our 3 night stay.

“Loved it”

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, 2 nights - at the beginning of our trip and 1 at the end of it.

The hotel has got great location. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes, travel agencies and small shops around the hotel. Nice view from the top floor restaurant. Breakfast is quite nice and usual for Vietnamese hotels, not bad but nothing special. Rooms are big enough and everything is new inside: furniture, bed-clothes and towels. The rooms are very cozy. The room and the bath room are extremely clean. There is quite big safe, small fridge and hair-drier in superior and deluxe rooms and thermos with boiled water and tea and coffee in deluxe room. Also there is a plate with some fruits upon arrival and very big TV in deluxe room. There is a big bath in deluxe room and a shower in superior room. Once we saw some small ants in the bathroom, but not any in the room. Some people say that there is a big problem with cockroaches in many Vietnamese hotels, but thanks God we didn’t see any neither in Elios nor in other hotels we stayed in Vietnam and Cambodia!

We spent 2 days in deluxe room on the 7th floor and 1 night in superior room on the 11th floor. Don’t stay on 11th floor because of restaurant on the last floor. It’s very noisy in the morning, people go out from the elevators on the 11th floor and go upstairs to the restaurant for having breakfast. Also you will smell restaurant’s odors every day, sometimes even in you room.

Air condition in the room works very good and when you leave your room it works, in some hotels if you go out from your room and take the key, air condition stops working.

There are two small complimentary bottles of mineral water every day in each room. There is tiny window in superior room, we have never seen such in other hotels! But there is a very big one in de luxe room.

The stuff is very helpful and speaks English fluently. They meet you with tasty fruit juice when you arrive and it seemed to us that it was fresh pineapple and pomelo juice. Reception can book a taxi to the airport for 6-7$.

If your room faces the street you will hear the traffic noise during all the day even if you stay on high floor. Our superior room on 11th floor didn’t overlook the main street but we still could hear the noise, but it’s typical for Vietnam if the hotel is in the center of the city.

We liked this hotel very much and would stay there again.
