This seems a popular place as it veers on the more upmarket side (for Vang Vieng) anyway.
We booked late and ended up with the worst room in terms of view. They are building some raised platform in front which will eventually block the view from the room (no.1). (There were no apologies for the construction work going on)
All rooms are set back a little with trees obstructing the view. The next door Elephant Hotel protrudes much further forward which doesn't help.
I emphasis these points because being on the river is the ONLY place to be in Vang Vieng.
The room is lovely, a little small but nicely furnished with traditional style but modern facilities. However the bathroom is poorly laid out, the sink is in the shower cubicle and there is no mirror. The lighting in the main room is ambient rather than functional which doesn't help as this is where the only mirror is located.
Breakfast is included either American or Continental, the food is rather mediocre.
The staff were quite laid back and didn't make much of an effort to serve.
I guess the main thing I found was that this place looks like it set out to be a boutique hotel but has fallen flat along the way.
It's not bad value but needs to try harder with new places opening up along the river.
