“Great pools and concierge; rooms a bit worn”

Herods Palace Hotel

5 of 5 stars
New York

We stayed at the Herods Palace for 3 days. The hotel is in a great location, and our room had a beautiful view of the Red Sea. The pools were fantastic; even though we were there during high season and the hotel was crowded, the pools did not feel too crowded. The concierge was excellent -- restaurant recommendations and reservations, reservations for a boat rental, jeep ride, etc. The only negative was that the rooms felt a bit worn -- everything worked and they were spacious, but they could use a bit of reservation. All in all, a good choice.

“big and old”

Herods Palace Hotel

This hotel is rated as a 5 star hotel , the only 5 stars I will give it is for the breakfast which is superb.
The lobby is nice but other areas like the pool and some corridors are just plain dirty. some parts of the pool like the empty juice bar at the end of the pool is all broken with broken tiles and broken under water seats which are great risk to kids.
The rooms are more like a 2 star hotel with dirty old carpets and old tables and chairs. The TV is out of date and the sofa is in great need of a change.
The staff need to be trained in the art of smiling in which they are lacking.
All the room got the benefit of the sea view which is great,
but if you are looking for a clean fresh room with the feel of a 5 star hotel then you will have to look somewhere else.

“Total luxury”

Herods Palace Hotel

5 of 5 stars
London, England

I visited the herods for a 3 day trip with my family. This hotel is the ultimate in luxury- from the incredible pool, to the patio areas, to the amazing dining rooms and delicious food served. The atmosphere at this hotel is amazing- especially at night when the swimming pool is lit up and is like a chill-out area.

Whats more, the herods is in the BEST location - it sits right in the heart of the shopping area, up-scale restaurants (giraffe being my favourite) and the many bars and clubs such as the brand new ice-bar that has opened.

If you prefer to lounge on the beach then all you do is come out of the hotel and take 10 strides and you are on the beach ! Its fantastic. The shopping centre is at the other end of the promenade so you get the chance to pass the shops, stalls, and restaurants until you reach the mall which is about 10 mins down the promenade (this walk is not reccomended in the scorching afternoon heat).

Anyway overall this is a fabulous all-rounder of a hotel.

“Avoid the Sheraton Herod's Palace”

Herods Palace Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Connecticut, USA
Sep 6, 2006
12/14 found this review helpful

We spent two nights at the Sheraton Herod's Palace. The tone for our stay was set right at arrival. We waited at least ten minutes for a bell hop or someone to unload our bags and bring them into the hotel.

The rooms were very tired. The carpeting was old and stained. The furniture was chipped. The decor in the rooms was harem like-very dark and uninviting. Not the place you wanted to be in temperatures of 110F.

We made reservations for shabbat dinner- after being sent to three different places and spending fifteen minutes lining up in unbearable heat we were finally admitted with about 3,000 others to an all u can eat fixed price buffet. We were told that one of our party should remain at the table at all times otherwise we would lose our table. The food was actually quite good-it was the battle getting in that took the edge off.

The concierge seemed to be a high school student. when we asked him a question he seemed annoyed that we were interrupting his video game

Generally the hotel was o.k. but definitely not worth was they were charging. They need to do a lot of work on their customer service.

The worst thing was that the rate for rooms was over $300 per day, bed and breakfast. This was definitely not a luxury hotel experience worth those $$.

“Good Hotel, But Shows Some Wear and Tear”

Herods Palace Hotel

Aug 31, 2006
4/4 found this review helpful

We just came back from 3 days at the Sheraton Herods Palace. The furniture and rugs in the common areas seem a bit tired (i.e. ripped upholstery in the dinning room). The ice maker on our floor was not working. There were several broken items in our bathroom. For the money, the hotel should be in better shape.

That being said, the service from the Conceirge desk was awesome for booking activities and setting up dinner reservations for us. The pool and beach areas are great. The breakfast was very good. We might try the Dan or the Hilton Queen of Sheba next time in Eilat.
