“Avoid this hotel if you can”

Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel

1 of 5 stars
San Diego, CA
Jul 14, 2008

We stayed at the Renaissance-now it's a Ramada-for 5 nights late June of this year. We were with a group of 30 couples. The hotel is run down, the rooms were dreary, the bathroom tiles were cracked and the drapes were soiled and torn. Combine that with the fact the front desk didn't seem to care about its customers made the stay very bad. On top of all of this, the laundry lost my husband's shirt-in fact, they came up to our room 3x with different shirts, asking if one of them was his! Guess that meant they were losing more than his shirt...To top it off, the location is on the fringe of town, making it difficult to walk to anyplace. So if you have a choice, stay at another hotel.

“5 stars? Someone better re-count!”

Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel

Jul 4, 2008

We were with a tour group and purchased their "premium plan" which was suppose to include 5 star hotel accomodations. (The folks that purchased the "popular plan" raved about their accomodations at a nearby hotel.) The carpeting in our room was filthy as were the draperies. In fact the black out drape was not only dirty but ripped! We were told the room was non-smoking, yet it smelled of stale smoke and had three ashtrays. It's hard to tell what happened in the bathroom. We summized they removed old tile around the tub and replaced it with something that resembles rubberized flooring, but it wasn't adhearing on the back wall from the tubs edge to the floor so they attempted to patch it. Perhaps water got behind the mirror--something strange is growing all across the bottom edge. It's disgusting. We were the only ones in our tour group with a room on the first floor--definately the bottom of the barrel! Perhaps that's because they said we didn't have a reseveration when we arrived! I have pictures depicting all I've described that I will disclose upon request. It is not my intent to bash this hotel, but it is just plain wrong to sell this as a 5 star hotel.

“Stay away”

Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Houston, Texas
Jun 29, 2008

I traveled to Israel on a group trip and paid extra to stay in a delux hotet. We spant five nights at the Renaissance. The carpets and upolstered furniture were so dirty that I requested a change of rooms, which they would not do. Many of the others in my tour group had also requested a new room because of the filth. My room smelled of stale tobacco. Although there were two ash trays in the room, I was informed that this whole hotel was non smoking.
The best discription of the food was college dorm food. We had the same food every day!!
The feeling of most of the group (filled about 25 rooms) was that we were taken. This is not a delux hotel!! Stay away

“Exellents Hotel in Jerusalem”

Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel

I visited Jerusalem last week, and had few friends from New York coming to Israel. When they told me they would like to stay in Jerusalem for two days, I jumped and Traveled 45 Minutes from Tel-Aviv arriving to Jerusalem.
A night before I login to my accout at hotels.com and looked for an Hotel in Jerusalem.
I Must tell you Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel was not my first option, however it looks nice and it was a deal so I booked two rooms for two days.
I must tell you they offer elegant accommodation, excellent meeting facilities and convenient services, the Renaissance Hotel is ideal for both business and leisure travellers.
The Renaissance Hotel Jerusalem is located near the entrance to the city on the main artery leading to every section of Jerusalem. The Israel Museum, Bibleland Museum, Science Museum, Central Bus Station, Israel Parliament, Israel's International Convention Center and other places of interest are situated near the hotel.
The hotel has a selection of restaurants serving glatt kosher, Continental and American food for you to relish.

Enjoy,
Franka

“Amazed at so much criticism”

Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel

4 of 5 stars
London, England
Mar 18, 2008

I stayed at the 'lesser' Royal Wing as the Renaissance Wing was fully booked, and I'm amazed at some of the criticisms on this site.

Firstly, I found nearly all the staff really helpful. There was one lady on Reception in the Royal Wing who was a bit curt, and the staff at breakfast could have been taught how to smile, but that was about it!!

The hotel is clean, the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, as one would expect from a good Israeli hotel. I ate in the 'non-meat' restaurant for dinner on one occasion, and I was more than satisfied with my meal.

My room was more than adequate, the TV worked, the bathroom was fine, albeit slightly on the small side, and my bed was extremely comfortable.

I used the internet once in the 'Business Section', the young lady there was most helpful, though I did think it was rather expensive.

But all in all, a most pleasant hotel, about 15 minutes by bus or cab from the centre of the New City. I liked it!!!
