“Glorious Old City Gem!”

The gloria hotel far exceded our expectations!

Location is excellent, inside the old city, perfect for those wanting to experience the vibrant culture of Jerusalem.

All staff were super polite, especially the lovely lady who assisted us greatly in booking some tours.

Food was great too - also great service!

When I return to Jerusalem, I will not stay anywhere else but the Gloria.

I could not recommend this hotel enough!

“Location, location, location”

To be right at the Jaffa Gate inside the old city is the best feature of the Gloria. There must be 2 hotels, though. When I read the reviews others have made, this wasn't the place I stayed at. The room I had, with my partner, was super small. It was 1 double bed, a closet unit with drawers and shelves, and a small writing desk attached to the wall, and that's all that there was room for. The TV had to be mounted on the wall. There was almost no room for a suitcase to sit. The shower was exactly large enough for 1 medium build person and no more. Not even room for a bar of soap or a shampoo container.
The room was clean. Everything was in good condition. It was just too tiny for 2 people for 4 nights. For the price, $80, it was good value, great location, and quiet, except for the church bells at 7 a.m. and again at 7:30. Great alarm clock.
The 1 star rating is about right. The breakfast was OK, not exceptional. Again, considering the price, it was fine.
Renovations are still going on. The upper floors are not yet finished and debris is still evident.
Service was non-existent, the desk staff could hardly speak English. They handed the key over, nodded, and that was about the communication level. Downstairs there are many social spaces, with tables and chairs. They must do a lot of church groups and conventions. Recommendable, as long as its value and location that you are looking for, and spend the days heading out and enjoying the city.

“Very nice staff”

I and a friend stayed there for 10 days. The receptionist (Ellen and Anna Maria) where very helpful. The Chef (George)and the waiters, George to mention one of them, were very pleasant and happy to make your stay there a very nice experience. The owners, since they were doing renovations were always around to give you a nice good morning and ask if everything was ok. The place was very cozy it felt like you were in a castle. People would come and go, because the were on tours, but we Mrs.Watson and Mrs Matos decided to stay there for the duration of the trip. The place must look very nice, because they had some great renovations going on. So when ever we go there to visit, we would love to stay there again.

“Perfect little bolt hole”

Gloria Hotel

Arrived in Jerusalem without anywhere to stay and wandered in to the old city and saw the signpost for the Gloria.

To be honest I had doubts about the place but went in anyway.

They have a delightful reception area that was in the final stages of being redecorated very sympathetically considering the age of the property and the fact that it used to be the olive oil store for the convent next door.

Was shown the room by the elderly receptionist who refused a tip. The room was quiet, spotlessly clean and perfectly large enough with two single beds, two arm chairs, a desk and a window overlooking the Jaffa Gate and David's Tower.

Slept like a dream until 7am when the church bells started but that's what happens when you stay in the Old City.

Breakfast was OK. Traditional Israeli buffet style breakfast, not the best I have ever had, but by no means the worst and it was included in the price of the room.

I have no doubts that I will be using this hotel again.

“professionally run hotel”

Gloria Hotel

The Gloria Hotel is really a professionally run hotel, rooms are being kept impeccably, fine and rich breakfast buffet (other buffets available, but didn't try), very kind senior receptionist.
(In view of this, minor mishaps could be pardoned.)
Great views, one side old Jerusalem with Tower of David, other side King David Hotel. Great old architecture visible in reception and tea room area.
No TV, so just get some novels at the bookshop on Jaffa St., a few blocks down, in the neighbourhood of which you can get everything else, too.
Great location, walk out of the door, to the left, King David Citadel, to the right, some quiet little streets of the Christian Quarter.
