My wife and I stayed at the Amman International Hotel March 8-10, 2008.
It was, at best, an ordinary hotel with little to commend it. It was sufficiently removed from central city that a taxi was necessary to get there.
In the bathroom, the sink was cracked; there was a noticeable sewer odor; water pressure in the sink dropped when the next-door guest took a shower; the tissue holder is 3 or so feet across the bidet from the toilet seat. The electrical outlet was adjacent to the bathroom door in the bedroom, which meant that a user needed a very long cord to shave or use the hair dryer, which was obtainable at the front desk.
Overheard one guest ask about air-conditioning, since the temperature in the room was 80 degrees-plus. She was told to open the window, since air conditioning operates only in summer, and we were in the winter season. She was on the ground floor and hesitated to open the window, not knowing what or who might enter. It was a sweaty night, she allowed the next day.
Staff was pleasant enough, although a bit diffident – no doubt because of the language difference.
The lounge was cozy, similar to an English pub. Sandwiches are available, as well as drinks. The dining room was ordinary in all respects.
If your plans call for Amman, think twice about the Amman International. There are plenty of upmarket hotels closer to urban attractions and activities.
