“great value at mariam hotel”

Mariam Hotel

We stayed at the Mariam Hotel for 2 days in January 2008 and really enjoyed our stay here. Compared to the other hotels we have stayed at in Jordan, it was excellent value for excellent price (27 JD per night for a double room). We would definitely recommend it to our friends

Pros:
- Great price. We paid more than double when we were staying in Amman for a similar room
- Close to airport, much closer than Amman
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Walking distance to restaurants, shops, main attractions
- Hotel arranges tours to various sites in Jordan
- Airport pickup and dropoff at great prices
- Rooms are clean and nicely decroated
- Great location, from Madaba you can easily visit most of the attractions of Jordan

Cons:
- The heater in our room did not always work
- The hot water was not working when we arrived but after we informed we desk they did fix it
- The internet in the lobby was extremely slow to the point of not working

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mariam Hotel and were glad that we decided to stay there instead of going back to Amman

“clean and comfortable”

Mariam Hotel

We chose this hotel on advice from Ruth who has written about Jordan in Jordanjubilee. It is located a few minutes walk from Madaba centre where there are shops and the attraction of St George's church.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable to stay in, with good service, a simple but effective restaurant, and a clean swimming pool. Internet is available as is satellite TV, office staff are courteous and helpful.
It is worth knowing that you are 30km SW of Amman, so trips north to say Jerash will be more costly; but the hotel arranges (commission free) private taxi services to many sites of interest at reasonable rates.

Very good hotel. Staff very friendly. Rooms are nice. The hotel can organize a taxi for a wide range of sightseeing places. The best hotel I had in Jordan.

“Growing hotel is a great base for your trip”

I would stay in Madaba as an alternative to Amman and this hotel is a great choice.
Attractive, clean and friendly place with everything you need:
internet, pool, tv, restaurant, transport, phones, helpful staff. Stores right across the street for munchies, liquor, laundry.

The hotel is a quick five minute safe walk to the center of town, with a number of excellent shwarma/falafel/pastry shops along the way. Pig out for under 3JD !

It's a work in progress: they are adding floors to the hotel. As of Nov 07 there are four floors. Construction work starts at about 7.30am.
The pump or compressor filling the large cisterns on the roof can be heard from room 428. It might be less annoying from a lower floor.
I highly recommend staying here at the Mariam.

“Nice hotel but smelly bathroom”

Mariam Hotel

Nov 14, 2007
8/9 found this review helpful

We spend one night in this hotel in November 2007.

Pros:
- Very friendly staff
- Very good located, close to the city center
- Free parking
- Nice, very clean room
- Outdoor pool (the weather was too cold though ;-)

Cons:
- Smelly bathroom although it looked very clean
- Loud water pipes running close to my bed (this problem might be limited to a few rooms)
- Several signs saying that hotel would charge you for any beverages you brought from outside of the hotel ... a rather strange policy for a budget hotel
