“Great Hotel”

Hilton Makkah

We stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Makkah earlier this week, and I can safely say that it is one of the best possible accomodatyions in the Holy City!

The good points :
1. Opposite the Haram!
2. Next to the hotel is the large shopping mall which has a lot of shops some of which open 24 hours a day.
3. Bin Dawood which is a large supermarket is also in that mall, so one can buy all things required for the stay next door and does not have to tow all the things back to your hotel room.
4. Nice breakfast.
5. Large rooms with good helpful staff. We were travelling with 2 infants and all our requests for hot water to make the baby formula were attanded very promptly and courteously!
6. Good food in room service.

The points that need improvement:
1. No electric kettle in the room, so you can boil water or make tea yourself.
2. Elevators are few and crowded at the times of namaz as all wanna go out at the same time!

Overall I would recommend the Hiton Makkah hotel as a great place to stay in the wonderful city! By the way there is also adjacent Hilton Makkah Towers which is basically the same complex but for which you have to cross the parking lot from the lobby. I would prefer to stay in the Hilton Hotel and not the Hilton Tower in Makkah!

“Better than some of the 5 star hotels that I have stayed in”

I had a very good experience at Hilton towers. I thought the service was really good and the rooms were very clean. This hotel is the best family choice, the studios are very spacious and is also value for money.

“Awful accommodation and service”

We stayed at the Makkah Hilton Towers (Tower No 2) for 11 nights. It was probably the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel.

Arrived at 3pm but was told that our room was not ready. We were told to wait an hour by reception staff who were very unhelpful. Eventually, we were given a room after an hour. The room on the 15th floor and was one of the filthiest rooms I have ever come across. The apartments are billed as 4 star, but the reality was closer to a 1 star room. Carpet was filthy covered with large brown stains. Walls also had large brown stains on them. Worse was to come when we inspected the bathroom.....stains on floor, toilet seat and a toilet bowl which looked like it had never seen bleach or a brush.

We complained to hotel staff first by phoning reception. This did not yield any results so we went back down to reception to complain about the state of the room. The hotel's Bell Captain was summoned to inspect the room. After various "negotiations" with hotel staff, they agreed to change the room, which thankfully was much cleaner.

Overall, service was very poor, house-keeping staff were rude and reception were unhelpful. On one occasion, cleaner forgot to replace hand towels, I called house-keeping to request towels but none were sent. Later on I saw a cleaner outside the room who had a trolley full of towels. I requested 2 hand towels but was told to wait until the next day!

Having previously stayed at the Madinah Hilton (5 star) which was excellent, I would advise anyone thinking of staying at the Makkah Hilton Towers to do so with extreme caution. At best its 2 - 3 star and definitely not 4 star. Even, in the new room we were given the bathroom was very basic and more suited to a 1-2 star hotel.

Unsurprisingly, checking out of the hotel was as troublesome as checking in, with staff ignoring you and as rude as ever.

Whilst in Makkah, we had an opportunity to see the actual Makkah Hilton hotel rooms (rather than the Towers) where friends were staying. These were much nicer and consistent with 5 star standards.

We went to the Hilton Towers expecting it to meet Hilton standards but our experience showed it was lacking in almost every respect.

My wife and I was on a visit to Mecca on the 24/4/05,suppose to stay at the Hilton, and ended up staying at the Hilton Towers, which we found to be the worse Hotel that you could find, from the reception & the service was very poor.
Their was absolutely no customer service, apart from paying to stay at the Hilton, and just told that it is full & have to take it or leave it,the arrogance of the personnel were unbecomming,i personally would not recommend anybody to stay their.
