You have no idea what a dump this place is. I really can not believe that Holiday In allow the profile of the company name to be sullied in such a fashion. The hotel is situated in the middle of an industrial area, some distance from the sea, and is currently surrounded by heavy machinery – plant and lorries and factories. In order to reach the swimming pool and heath facilities, one must leave the premises – no privacy is afforded, or, you change at the pool. The noise from the discos dies down at about 5 a.m. and is unbearable.

I have just checked out early from this hotel and am writing this review from the Gulf Air business lounge in Seeb International Airport. This hell hole is where Gulf Air now place their first and business class passengers in transit between flights. The room was disgusting. It smelt and was unclean,old and jaded with stains on the walls and the ceilings. Plenty of traffic noise to contend with as well. Noisey air conditioning. All of my meals were complimentary but on looking at the buffet provided I chose not to eat at this hotel. The restaurant reminded me of a works canteen and a poor one at that. Like others have said the hotel is situated in an appauling area. Both bars smelt of gone off tobacco smoke,my guess that the smell is ingrained into the carpets and furniture that appears to have never been changed . Disgusted with the hotel and disgusted with Gulf Air for putting me there...thank heavens I did not have to pay for that disgust!

I was stuck in this hotel due to a flight cancellation. The noise from the two disco's pounds in the rooms until 3PM - and the hotel attracts men seeking prosititutes from the same disco's. Food terrible - service terrible - don't go there!

I stayed at this place with many reservations after reading reviews. However, i found only a grain of truth in some of the reviews. We had a huge bed, not smelly or lumpy .Any smell was from perfume sprays or when the air conditioning was first turned on but soon disappeared. The facilities considering it was 3*, though plaque at front of hotel said 4*, were excellent. Had huge swimming pool to myself for a week, tennis court, adequate gym, fab service where I was given razor, shaving foam, fruit, toothbrushes etc. Fresh towels daily etc. I couldn’t fault the service in anyway. Never sampled food in hotel, but found local restaurants which were between 10 and 25 mins walk away and were between a sixth and a third of the price of hotel for good food.
Where reviews are correct is the location of the hotel. It was built before the industrial area grew up around it, and it is not really meant for tourists, unless you are on a mechanics course. However taxi buses are close and for less than 30 pence you can get to most parts of town. Taxis are cheap too, but avoid hotel taxis as you can get a much better deal on the street. For 2 real, less than 3 pounds you should be able to get a trip by taxi for at least 25 mins. to most areas including the airport, although westerners will have to bargain hard as with most Mid East countries. You will enjoy this hotel if you are adventurous and prepared to take a risk or two to get out and enjoy yourself .Try and forget that Holiday inns are usually 5*, and think of the savings you are making here and you will enjoy it more.
