I stayed here for 2 nights and found the hotel to be more than adequate though not quite a 5 star standard. The hotel itself is of an older design something like 60's and 70s I think but has been well maintained. The rooms could do with a refresher and updating but they certainly were of a reasonable size and clean and well presented. The location can't be beat really. Across the road is the Egyptian Museum and cross the road in the other direction and your in downtown Cairo. The hotel sits on the banks of the Nile so is worth taking an evening stroll along the bank and over the nearby bridge which literally teems with locals hanging out and enjoying the views. This place really is a bit of an oasis from the dusty chaos that is the rest of Cairo. The pool area is very nice and a great place to relax with a drink in the late afternoon. The dining options are pretty standard though nothing out of the ordinary. The hotel is well known in Cairo and is a bit of a hangout with the more well to do local residents and the 'Ahwa' (teahouse) at the hotel is well patronised by locals and guests alike which makes it alot more interesting. IF you want a more interesting dining option not far from the hotel is a well known and reputable egyptian restaurant 'Felfala' - just ask for directions if you need help.
