We stayed here twice during a tour with Gate 1 travel. Upon arrival in Cairo, we spent a (very) short night here and were upgraded to a huge, 2-floor, 2-bedroom 3 bath suite. Then, after our return from Aswan and Luxor via river cruise, we stayed two nights.
Although we didn't have the chance to use the pool, we did go to see it and it looked beautiful. The property is spotless, the rooms are huge and clean (the second stay we had a suite for me and the hubby, and a room for the two teens). It's not too far from the pyramids (we had gorgeous pyramid views from all rooms) and about 45mins - 1 hr from the Cairo center. Since Cairo is an extremely busy and crowded city, I thought that was rather a positive. This hotel was likely the cleanest place we have been to in Egypt. Outside the hotel it was a different story.
Although theft does not seem to be much of an issue in this country, people live up to their waist in garbage - apparently by choice. Begging is common, and if you do tip you will be asked to give more, regardless of how much you tipped. Vendors are extremely persistent, and best dealt with by putting on what one fellow-traveler called "the subway face". Once you have something in your hands, good luck giving it back. The price of EVERYTHING is negotiable. Yes, that includes a can of soda.
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER. Our fabulous tour guides (Thank you Hany!!) had medicine for gastro-intestinal upset. I would NOT recommend doing Egypt without a tour guide. Gate 1 had blessed us with Hanan, an amazingly patient and knowledgeable Egyptologist. She was an absolute lifesaver. We would have never seen half of what we did. Forget renting a car, unless you can read arabic and have no problems getting crushed. Uh, and the toiletpaper? It's not a commodity - it gets stolen by the Egyptians who then charge you for it. Travel with sani-wipes and tissue. Lots of it. Give piastres for tips, not pounds, and certainly not dollars (unless, of course, you like wasting money).
All in all, Egypt was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not to be missed and not to be repeated (at least not this part). I can recommend this hotel.

“Hilton in the middle of a construction site”

The hotel is in the middle of nowwhere, but sitll loud as a nousy street is just in front of the hotel and a new swiss hotel is under construction besides the hotel pool.

the golf course nearby is probably the worst managed course I have ever visited. Do not accept the green fee they ask for. Bargain, as you should in the bazaars.

“Great but a bit far out”

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights whilst in Cairo on business.

Arriving at Cairo airport it's quite a long drive to reach the hotel, especially when the traffic is heavy. I lost quite a lot of time waiting for my driver to reach the hotel and to get to/from the centre of Cairo where I was working. It's not a pleasant drive either as the driving standards in Egypt are poor and it can be pretty frightening at times!

The hotel and golf course are located in the middle of nowhere. The hotel complex is great but there are no local shops or places you can walk to locally. If you want more night life and amenities I'd recommend somewhere near to City Stars.

I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I ate breakfast and evening dinner at the hotel and found it really good. Beer was fairly cheap too.

I had a large room with a great view over the golf course. There's lots of building work ongoing in the dreamland area but I was out during the day and wasn't disturbed during the night.

Didn't have time to try the pool but it looked wonderful. The bar outside was great and there was authentic live music. I don't play golf so didn't try the course, which looked pretty quiet.

Security seems a bit more relaxed than other hotels in the centre of Cairo but still feels secure.

They play piped music in the corridors at all times which was British 80's pop songs whilst I was there. Slightly surreal experience.

Very close to the Giza Pyramids but would be a long drive to visit the Egyptian museum.

Would definitely stay here again but only if I was working in this part of the city.

“Great Hotel”

Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort

We booked a trip to do 3 days in Cairo and 7 days in Sharm. We hired an outside company to pick us up at the airport because the Hilton could not supply us with a min-bus (there was eight of us). No problem. When we arrived at the Hilton, we were greeted with drinks. It was a very long flight for us because we were delayed in Rome. We contacted the hotel about tours about one month before we arrived and they were very nice and sent us a sheet with the tours available and prices. We emailed the Hilton with what we wanted to do and everything was ready to go the very next morning (while we were there). Our tour guide's name was Mina and he was very good. We did the Pyramids and Museum tour. It was a very long and hot day, but we got to see everything. We also booked a tour to do a dinner cruise on the Nile. Sounds cheesy, but it was a lot of fun and when in Cairo, you must see the Pyramids and a Nile cruise.

As for the hotel, food was great and so was the service. Our room was just renovated and the bathroom was huge. Bathtub and separate shower. Our friends had the view of the Pyramids from their room.

Since we were leaving early the next morning, we asked the front desk to set us up with breakfast bags and they did. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to friends and family. Just wish we had one day to enjoy the pool and the golf course but we were in a rush to start our dive vacation.

“Hilton Hotel chain will not deliver what you would expect”

Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort

Just returned from a week long stay at the Pyramids Golf Resort. It was the second time we visited Egypt which probably will be the last time there. The main agenda was to visit one of the Wonders of the World, however it did not really turned out to a visit we anticipated.
The hotel was located very inconveniently, away from all the shops and main tourist attractions but atleast away from the chaos of Downtown Cairo. We booked thorugh the hotel website so we can get the best rates possible. It was affordable but the hotel brochure was totally inaccurate about the amenities that it published to be in close proximity to the resort. The photos displayed on the website must have been very old as they show clear views of the Pyramids from the Golf Course. We managed not to spot any of that!! The service upon arrival wasn't too great despite us being HiltonHonors members and completing a whole week of stays at different Hilton hotels in different countries.
The allocated room was had sufficient space with a balcony overlooking the only minute swimnming pool I have ever seen 5* hotel. The batrhroom was spacious, however the shower cubicle was dirtier than a public toilet in Amsterdam! Mould was present on all the edges as if was intended to be there. The beds were comfortable and the room furniture just about met our satisfaction. The TV enetertainment was near to non existent because out of 42 channels, only 5 were in English. We could have purchased an additional channel package at an extortionate price whcih any person would be reluctant to pay for a short stay at the resort.
There were many positive factors though. The house keeping was vey polite and efficient. We managed to rinse the mini-bar at no costs everyday but it may have been for the reason that we tipped them very generously. All our clothes lying around the room were neatly folded everyday. The room service ran 24 hours a day which was great but was again extortionate. The food always arrived cold but who would want to complain when you can get food at 3:30 am !! The taxi services through the hotel were great with the drivers all being friendly and very helpful when you need help on where to shop.
I don't want to dwell too much so would just like to report back that Hilton Pyramids is an affordable hotel to stay at, away from the chaos of the main city, but this can work out to be disadvantageous if you want to travel to all the attractions and shopping districts. You will get what you pay for and nothing more! I stayed at Radissons SAS in Sharm-el-Sheikh in 2006 and that hotel was by far a good recommendation if you visit that part of egypt. If I was you, I would just avoid Hilton Hotels because the name and the overall service you would expect from them will definately not reach you!!! Before arriving in Egypt we stayed at Hilton Docklands in the apartments right at the top of the building. it had maginficent views but the checkout was dreadful!!! Then on the way back stayed at Hilton London Metropole. We pain £150 per night and were given the room that more resembled a shed in your back garden with no space to walk. Just enough to sleep!! Ridiculous (if you spell like that)
