“Horrific souless dump!”

Heliopolis Hotel, Towers & Casino

Stayed at the hotel for three nights after a two week nile cruise in Aug 2006 and was looking forward to a nice relaxing time, and a high quality hotel.

I found the rooms to be ok, but thought it was ridiculous to charge for tea and coffee in the room.

Our stay started with the obligatory begging room cleaner after a tip before we had even unpacked. He was a constant pain during our stay, and we tried to avoid him as much as possible.

I found the bar, pool and hotel facilities to be surprisingly dated, and overpriced. However, the Lebanese restaurant was superb value for money, and very tasty.

Avoid the hotels own buffet restaurant, one of my friends caught a stomach bug from it, the food was always cold.

Staff were unhelpful, and quite rude. Would personally avoid this hotel on pain of death.

“Woeful !!! Stay Clear.”

Very run down.Worn carpets in rooms and hallways.Tired looking rooms, dirty bathroom.
Staff uninterested in quests.Everybody looking for tips.
Reception staff unpleasant.
We booked a hotel taxi to take us to the pyramids. The driver stopped at 2 places on route to put us in an awkward situation where a forceful sales pitch was made to try an make us buy overpriced artwork and fragrances.
The pyramid excursion worked out very expensive also.
A hotel that proclaims to be 5 star should not have it quests feeling under pressure or having to keep their wits about them in and outside the hotel.
I have travelled widely using the starwood hotels quiet often. This is one of the worst Sheratons I have stayed in.I know they are completing a new section which will probably be nice, but the ethos and atmosphere created needs to be changed dramatically.
My advise ...Stay Clear.

“Very disappointing”

Very disappointed with this hotel, we stayed here on the last night of our holiday as it was extremely close to the airport and we had a very early flight. First the car we had arranged from the hotel didn't appear at the airport, then when we checked in, it took an hour for our bags to be brought to the room so that we could change and go out. The pool was OK, but the food at the restaurant there took forever to arrive, then they gave us food we hadn't ordered and tried to charge us for it.

The rooms were fine, standard Sheraton interconnecting, clean, comfortable, with good modern bathrooms.

We ordered a room service meal in the evening, to our great surprise, it was delicious and the service was great!

“Cairo vist near the airport”

Stayed Sep 21, 2006 for 1 night.

The hotel offers a free airport shuttle on the hour every hour. It is about 10-15 minutes drive away from the airport.

Beautiful hotel.
Large lobby.
Really nice rooms.
Many restaurants to pick from. I ate in the Cafe and the prices were good.

For an airport hotel it is a great choice.

I would not stay at the hotel if your going to visti the tourist sites. To far away.

I would use this hotel again if needed.

“Not for Tourist at All”

Heliopolis Hotel, Towers & Casino

From the outside the hotel looks like rundown 70's hotel, but once you get inside it all changes. The staff was nice but that all changed when majority of them started to ask for TIPS for everything they tried to do (thing you typically don't tip hotel workers at other hotels). The rooms in my opinion were very bad due to the fact they were extremely small. It's definitely a hotel where you just "crash" for the night. The prices for food were extremely high (worse then American high), and there isn’t any place around the hotel to eat at. The location of the hotel is not the greatest either it's in the middle of Cairo away from all the action. I would not recommend this hotel for tourist at all.
