We stayed for a couple of nights late March and found it to be a gorgous hotel, I had been a little worried after reading some of the reviews but they seem to be getting on top of the renovations and our room was fantastic- no complaints whatsoever. The cleaner was a lady, infact there were ladies working all over the hotel which was quite refreshing for Egypt.

All the staff were great and very friendly apart from one man on the reception as we were checking out but that has all been sorted out with the management now.

It is very easy to get the little boat to and from the island and you are never waiting longer than 5 mins.

The swimming pool may be new but it was quite dirty but as I don't sun bathe or go in the pool this wasn't a problem for me.

All in all we had a lovely stay and will be returning next yr at some point.

We just stayed for one night at the Movenpick Aswan.

We liked the location on an island on the Nile, far the city noice.

The hotel is still in the process of renovation. Rooms are nice, the swimming pool area is OK but nothing wonderful.

We booked a transfer from the airport to the hotel but they never showed up. We phoned the hotel ... the concierge told us that it would not come and that it would be cheaper to take a normal taxi anyway ...

We had a problem with our luggage which had not arrived from Europe. The assistant manager was VERY helpul as we found it difficult to get in touch with Alitalia in Cairo.

I have a mixed feeling really. Generally speaking the hotel, however is more a 3 star than a 5 star. I might be great when full renovation is completed, which was not the case in april.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Movenpick Resort Aswan (a.k.a. Elephantine Island Resort) in March 2008. Our stay was booked as a part of our tour with Globus/Avalon Waterways. We were pleased with our stay, enjoying the poolside cafe and main Orangerie Restaurant, as well as our newly refurbished Nubian Style room. The rooms were quite spatious with no external noise heard during our stay. The staff was helpful and promptly assisted us whenever necessary. This hotel is still under construction; however we were not bothered by anything during our stay. The restaurants and pool were open (as previously mentioned), as well as a shopping area adjacent to the hotel lobby. We did enjoy our stay at the Movenpick and I would recommend this property to anyone who might be enjoying time in Aswan.

Hotel is on an island in the middle of the Nile - there's a 24 hour free ferry. Lots of work going on to improve the building and the gardens, but that doesn't get in the way and once they've finished the place will be fantastic. Staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for you.
