We spent two nights at Giraffe Manor and had a enjoyable time. The hosts, Nadine and David were very sociable and made you feel at ease. I would have to agree with other reviews about the rooms and bathrooms. Our room you could describe as shabby chic but the bathroom was in need of an update. The staff were very nice and the communal dinner in the evening was good fun but the quality of the food could have been better.

The giraffes come to the house in the morning and you feed them through the window which was good fun and they were lovely. This is what makes this place unique and this is why you are parting with your well earned cash. This place is expensive for what you get and in the near future needs to have a refurb in order for it to justify the price. It's a very sociable environment and you spend time with fellow guests -we were lucky there was only one other couple there and they were great fun.

It can't be denied that this place is unique and being a huge giraffe lover I was hugely looking forward to it. But we felt that the accomodation and the service were really not up to scratch, which is why we were so surprised to read the other wonderful reviews on this site. We go to Kenya frequently and had heard good things about Giraffe Manor. When we got there, we found the house to be a bit frayed around the edges. We liked the 'old world' feel of it, but frankly it needs to be spruced up a bit. Old world isn't an excuse for worn and dirty. Bathrooms are old and don't work properly. Several rooms are not on-suite but prices are just as much as those with big bathrooms. We enjoyed the breakfasts but we were otherwise pretty much ignored by the staff. They even forgot to give us a wake-up call in the morning and we almost missed our flight! And there were no apologies for this. Worst of all was that this hotel has no facilities for taking credit cards and the owners were incredibly rude about making the final payment. Perhaps others haven't had these problems there because the owners decided they were 'more important' clients but I think it's wrong to treat clients differently.

My last night of my trip was spent at Giraffe Manor. What an experience. Rooms are wonderful and spacious, clean and you feel like part of the home. Dinner was magnificent and the company was great. You meet lots of new friends. Breakfast was spent with the giraffe's leaning through the windows and kissing you, eating from your hand. it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. Can't say enough great things about the Manor. Five star all the way.

A truly unique experience, a real must do,
We only spent one night and woke up with a giraffe's face at our window, we then spent breakfast with them, they genuinley poke their heads/necks through the windows and let you feed them.
All i can say is that if you are in nairobi "DO IT"
