We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in July, one night either side of our safari and thought it was a lovely comfortable hotel. The meals were very good, including the buffet breakfast, lunch at the pool side and dinner in the safari restaurant and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Across the road is the shopping centre - a good place to stock up on a few bottles of water and snacks to take on safari - try the shop on the lower floor which has a wide variety of drinks crisps, dried fruit and nuts and biscuits.
We would definately return to this hotel.

An over night stay on our way to Safari, Hotel is dated, comfortable and a good introduction to the fantastic service of all the otyer hotels we stayed at, a good eat all you can buffet for the dinner and breakfast we had. Overall a good clean bed in a comfortable city hotel

This hotel was not bad, but there was nothing great about it either. About middle of the road for African hotels.

The Jacaranda is an excellent hotel. I stayed there regularly betwen July & December 2004, and never had any problems.

There is a large swimming pool, extensive gardens and it's very quiet.

The restaurant is not matched anywhere in Nairobi, and the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable.

There's a large shopping centre/mall across the road, which has all the shops you could want as well as fast food and a multiplex cinema showing the latest Western releases (some before they even show up in Europe).

The Jacaranda is regularly used by Aid Workers and foreign and local Governments, and has excellent security.

There is a small travel agent located in the lobby who can arrange trips in and around Nairobi or further afield.

Room rates are a little negotiable - my company has a rate of approx $70 per night (although we would have at least one person staying there at all times, so that's an exceptional rate).
