I heard about this hotel from a colleague when I was in Nairobi last time and went for dinner at the Moonflower Restaurant (which was excellent!) When I was there I immediately made a booking for my next visit. It is the kind of place that I feel a bit reluctant to recomend simply because everyone will find out about it. It is beautiful, the interiors are exceptional and the staff are so warm and friendly. The suites are huge-with a nice bathroom. The location is super-close to town but it really feels like an oasis from buslting Nairobi.
It is encouraging to see that Nairobi is developing hotels in this style and standard. I am not staying anywhere else!

This is a magical hotel which has completely changed my opinion of Nairobi...I cant wait to go again! Palacina perfectly blends colonial flair with modern luxury. The rooms are terrific:spacious, elegant with african woven baskets on the wall, dark polished wood and comfy sofas. They have a big bathroom, walk in closet with safe and a large balcony. The location was perfect for us-we were not keen on being in the middle of Nairobi so staying a little out of town meant that we were not in the thick of traffic, pollution and noise...but still close enough to drive to all the sights. The staff are amazing-so gentle and kind. The hospitality is truly remarkable. Afternoon high tea with scones. cream and straweberry jam is included in the rate...a lovely touch which we really enjoyed. The Moonflower Restaurant has great food and a fab band...old time Jazz. highly recomend the Avocado Tartare and the Red Snapper. Loved it! Palacina is a boutique hotel that really captures the magic of Kenya. THis is how a hotel should be run. Kudos to the management and staff!

“Palacina, what a find!”

Palacina Residence & Suites

I recently stayed in a new hotel called Palacina, The Residence and Suites when in Nairobi. I usually stay in the bigger city hotels when I come to Nairobi for business but The Serena was fully booked so a friend suggested I try this new boutique hotel. The location is about 10 minutes drive to the city center, but what is nice is that you are in the suburbs of Nairobi with a really nice garden. The hotel is very stylish and trendy with an african touch the decor...The service is unbeleivable. Everyone knew me by name (after only 5 days. Breakfast was served in the lobby...they have a very cool farm house style breakfast/kitchen counter. The best part was that they have a great restaurant called The Moonflower where it was busy with the Nairobi "in Crowd." It doesnt feel touristy at all...and I got to see a bit of Nairobi night life. But really nice food, great service and live music a couple of times a week.
I would totally recomend this hotel for anyone staying in Nairobi...business or pleasure. What a find!
