“A decent hotel”

Regal Kowloon Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Singapore

I had booked the hotel because of the mileage I can earn for my Asia Miles membership. It's my first time staying at the hotel and I would say that it was a rather pleasant stay generally speaking.

The bellboy/porter was efficient and friendly. The frontdesk staff were generally approachable though they could have put on more smiles. Chambermaids were efficient and amiable.

Room size was pathetic. I was staying in a standard room and I can tell you that it's one of the smallest standard rooms by Hong Kong standards. Nevertheless, room amenities made up for the small room size. The courtyard view was generally pleasant (probably because of the Lunar New Year decorations in the courtyard).

Hotel facilities were aplenty although the decor looked a bit dated. The lifts were extremely slow and I find this totally unacceptable given that this is a 4-star hotel.

Location of the hotel is good as it is within a 10-min walk from two MTR stations (Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui). If you want to get to Shenzhen in China, the East Tsim Sha Tsui station has regular train services to the border at Lo Wu.

Plenty of good restaurants and eateries scattered around the hotel vicinity. Convenience stores, such as the 7-11, are also within a stone's throw.

The room deposit policy is horrible. Why is there a need to hold as much as HKD2800 (approx USD360) for a short period of stay (2 nights)? I have stayed in many other hotels of the same standard in Hong Kong and all of them earmarked a sum of between HKD500 and HKD1000. This is the first time I am charged a deposit that is MUCH more than the amount I paid for my 2 nights stay! On top of that, as usual, the hotel will take donkey days to release the earmarked amount from the bank account.

Overall experience: a decent hotel located in a good location, suitable for businessmen and single travellers.

First the location, its not that great, removed from Hong Kong Island. It's a fast trip on the subway, but spend the extra money and stay on Hong Kong Island. The hotel is VERY dated, I don't believe the hotel has been renovated since it was built in the 1980's. Also we where upgrated for free to the excutive floor and the room smelled bad. Also the wallpaper was pealing and bubbling. The overall experience was not one I would recommond to anyone.

“Nice business hotel”

I stayed at the Regal Kowloon in October 2006, during a business trip.
The hotel is nice. It is pricey, which is usual for Hong Kong.
The room was of a good size.

I would suggest to have breakfast outside as the breakfast buffet is very expensive and not so nice.

Overall, a nice stay

“Good Location, Service In Kowloon: I liked it a lot; No Complaints”

I stayed at this place for 5 nights in January 2008, for a conference, and was very satisfied. I suspect I paid less a lot less than market price. (PC Tours was the organizing travel agent for the conference, and they seem to know what they are doing).

Spacious rooms, especially for Hong Kong, (I think I was in superior, upgraded from Standard).

One can walk to the harbor, (Avenue of Stars), in 5 minutes for me, the nearest MTR station in 10, the museums in 5, and a square out the back, (Granville Square?), in 1, with plenty of eating places there, or nearby.

I found the concierge service, and indeed all service friendly and efficient, again, especially for HK.

The quilt on the bed was heavy and hot, and the air conditioning quirky and seemingly uncontrollable; but, after a brief conversation with the housemaid, a sheet and blanket were provided. -The rooms were quiet.

I liked the place, for a corporate hotel. Check out the interesting statues in the lobby.

“Nice”

Regal Kowloon Hotel

Santiago, Chile

This is our first time in this hotel, I know it thet it wouldn´t be the same like Shangrila´s Hotel, but the staying was good. I stayed at the suite room, was very big, but the bathroom was little, and the beds were very hard. The breackfast is included, american breackfast, ok, very complete. Very quiet, it´s a good option, well located in Tsim Tcha Tsui.
