What a great find ! Hong Kong hotels are expensive and have small rooms so when we arrived at The Metropark Kowloon and checked into our Club Room we were pleasantly surprised. The room was large by Hong Kong standards with a double bed, 2 bedside tables, desk, fridge, large flat screen TV armchair and there was still enough room for 2 big suitcases to lie opne on the floor. The room wasn't giant but plenty big enough, and I guess you could say that it was massive by Hong Kong standards. The bathroom was large but with no bath, however, the shower cubicle was more than double size and if you prefer showers as we do then it could be condisered a bonus.
The room was newly decorated and looked great with all expected amenties. The hotel website was the cheapest site I could find on the net for the Metropark with rooms only costing £50 GBP /night for a standard room so we upgraded to a Club Room for £25 GBP extra per night. This gave us a high room floor, complimentary breakfast and free drinks and snacks in the Club lounge between 5-7pm. The snacks consisted of sandwishes etc, but the bar was fully stocked with premium brands all free!!
Breakfast was great. An extensive buffet that all tasted great.
The location of the hotel was OK, but not fantastic. About 5 min walk from Nathan Rd, but once on Nathan Rd you found yourself quite far along away from the Harbour. The MTR train station was about 7min walk , with The Peninsula Hotel/ Avenue of The Stars/ Water front a brisk 30min walk. Don't let these walking times put you off though as taxis pull in to the hotel pick up zone and are very cheap - about £5 GBP to the water front. When you compare the price of this hotel and find that it was easily half that of its competitors and then rate the service and comfort provided you would be hard pushed to beat it for overall performance. If you are coming to Hong Kong and don't have an endless budget you have got to try this great Hotel - I can't recommend it enough.
