“Good business hotel”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

As a single traveller on budget but going to Hong Kong for a short conference on my own, this hotel is value for money. Perhaps for a single traveller, the room I was given, was a room for the disabled. Hence the room size was much bigger (think of wheelchairs rolling around). So the bathroon is big enough for a wheel chair to be in it.

Likes: compl. english newspaper, friendly and attentive staff, internet access at lobby, free shuttle bus to shopping and main areas (especially Admiralty and HKCEC), good breakfast buffet range with city view, near MTR and Times Square and wan chai late nite shopping area (8mins walk). Shuttle bus picks up hotel guests from Hong Kong station which is good for Airport express travellers. Lifts are adequate (there are 3) though not very big. The room is clean with a mini fridge which is useful for keeping food I bought. There's hairdryer. For longer stay, the hotel website offers discounts for min. stay nites, which is the promotion I took on. Otherwise, this hotel is quite expensive without the promotional rate.

Dislikes: it's next to a cementery which I didn't mind as long as I don't see it from my window (I got it frosted). cable TV channels could include MTV or channel V as it's mostly business channels like BBC, CNN which can be so boring. There's an underground subway which you need to use it if you want to walk to MTR. It can be rather too quiet for a single female traveller especially late at night after doing the late night shopping and bcoz the shuttle bus ends at 9.15pm last timing. There's a homeless man sleeping there for nites.

I took the buffet breakfast on alternative days. Hong Kong is famous for food and food is available very early in the morning so it's such a waste to have the same buffet breakfast every morning. I'm glad my hotel stay didn't include daily breakfast.

Overall, a good hotel for a budget biz trip

“Recommend Cosmopolitan”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

Just got back from the Cosmopolitan and would recommend anyone staying here. We had booked for 7 nights excluding 1 night in Maccau so were able to experience the hotel to its fullest. Wi-Fi in the lobby was free or you could use the 2 pc's connected to the internet for a fee.

I'd read that a lot of rooms in Hong Kong are small but here ours was fine. We stayed as a group and all 4 rooms were of a decent size and clean. We all had rooms which backed onto a cemetary so the windows were covered but still allowed enough light to come into the room. Only problem with this is you cant see what the weather is like.

The location is good, about a 15/20 minute walk to Times Square where you can catch a train to any of the major sites you want to see. The Hotel bar is ok and about 5 minutes away is a couple of local bars one with Karaoke and the other and English bar.

Staff were helpful organising transfers to the airport and giving advice on how to get to attractions. Taxis are cheap and plentiful in Hong Kong and easy to get from the hotel.

Overall good experience.

“Happy Holidayer”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

After reading varying reviews there is always a little concern that you have booked the "right" hotel.

The Cosmopolitan lived up to all the good reviews with good size rooms, spotlessly presented and cleaned aech day on request.

The buffet breakfast was enjoyable for each of the five days of our stay (a couple of items could have been replenished a little sooner on the odd day) and staff were generally prompt and attentive. We had an occassional problem with language, a couple of counter staff not strong with English, but generally this was overcome quickly.

The hotel has a tram stop outside the door and we had no problems getting taxis when necessary. Happy Valley racecourse is across the road, Times Square is a short walk away and we were also able to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle buses to various HK areas.

Overall a very pleasant stay and we would have no hesitation recommending the Cosmopolitan to our family and friends.

myself and my partner stayed at this hotel for a week, and when we booked the hotel through expedia we didnt know where the location of it was as we hadnt been to hong kong before, when we arrived the hotel was excellant only been built since 2004, the lobby was full of mable and the doormen were really attentive, we choose a deluxe room and the standard was high, the hotel was right across the road from the happy valley race course, taxis are cheap in hong kong so getting around was easy and the place felt safe, i would definately recommend this hotel

“Nicest hotel i've stayed in”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

5 of 5 stars
Coventry, England

this is the nicest hotel i've stayed in - i usually stay in hotels that are rated 2-3stars and i think the total charge was £350 for 8 days

the hotel is well located - on a tram line - you'd have to catch a tram to happy vally then one to central if you wished to use the tram but lots of buses pas this hotel though and the staff are more than happy to help out with taxis etc.

The hotel is in Wan chai but the nearest tube stop (Times square) is a nice 10 min walk away.

A taxi from hong kong station to the hotel was 50hk$ including luggage charge. I paid for the standard room and was offered the option upon checking in of taking the deluxe room with breakfast for my partner and i and broadband for the duration. i declined. the cost was 225hk$ each

The room was small but clean with plenty for space for clothes. the beds were hard but had duvets. the bathroom was spotless and the pressure on the shower was superb and hot.

You may read on some reviews of this hotel stating that the standard rooms have a view of the graveyard - sick as it may sound the view was lovely and the graveyard is pretty and you can see into the hills - which are lush and green.

Over all i could not fault this hotel, even before i arived i had a query which was responded by email from the general manager within 1 hour! keep up the good work
