“Nigi Nigi Nu Noos 'e' Nu Nu Noos”

Nigi Nigi Beach Resort

Jan 28, 2008

Nigi Nigi Nu Noos 'e' Nu Nu Noos offers a different look and feel in the accommodations. Our room was upstairs with an open roof, so the air flows through, but not let the rain in. Because of this openness, our bed came with a mosquito net. It's like being in a tropical hut on stilts, feeling wind blow through, hearing birds chirping clearly, seeing people walk by underneath. This is really neat. It's a modern hut with stairs. It's inconvenient putting up with the mosquito net. But how often can you experience a tropical setting like this in a hotel room? Along with this openness, which offers an experience I wouldn't get in a regular walled room. I feel my senses heightened and closer to nature but with most of the modern conveniences. It makes for a great romantic getaway except any noise you make will be clearly heard.

If you want to minimize this openness, ask for an air-conditioned room for a higher charge, probably a room below. They also offer rooms with a small fridge, which our room lacked. We had an outdoor balcony with seating space available -- really nice. Don't hang up clothes outside on the balcony; my t-shirt blew away from the wind. Refer to their binder for a list of recommended places to go. This place is gay friendly.

Book your accommodation directly to save money instead of booking through an agent. The happy hour at their bar gets quite busy from 5 to 7pm when there's no storm.

Del, one of the managers, was very personable and came over and chatted with us while we were in the dining area, with a toucan resting on her arm. The bird tried to fly away twice, and each time it was found almost dead. The wings of this bird were clipped so it couldn't fly away any longer.

This place isn't the cheapest, nor by a long shot the most expensive. It's one of the earliest establishments, built with a British engineer who knows what's he's doing.

We met a couple nice people, a German tourist named Heinz and a British Airways flight attendant at the bar.

Overall, I think it's a very good choice. The experience staying in a open roof room is a really nice experience itself, especially to share with a romantic partner.

Allow yourself an extra day or two for flexibility of your schedule. All boat trips were cancelled due to a tropical storm, we could have left if we had caught an boats leaving earlier that morning. But I also came down with diarrhea, fortunately the hotel provided me with some pills for this problem. The storm lifted and we were able to leave the next day.

The name is a funny long one, and so your memory of your visit will be too, as I think back fondly on it myself.

This is our 2nd stay at ngi ngi and we have our 85 yr old mother with us,since we live in Canada and my wife is filipina we visit the philippines evry 2-3 yrs.I always insist on going to boracay and ngi ngi is my place of choice. The staff is extremely accomodating, friendly.the food always prepared to our liking and they go out of their way to cook the frsh shrimps and lobster bought on the beach. They charge minimal to prepare it just the way you like it.Our rooms are always comfy, although i found the mattress not too comfy(they brought another and placed on top) and made it more cushiony. All in all a great place to stay. Will be back in 2009!

“Nigi Nigi Too”

After the short flight from Manila on a turbo-prop, a boat ride, and a keep-a-firm grip ride on a tricycle (getting somewhere is always part of the adventure in the Philippines), we reached the hotel. Its a fairly new establishment, quaint and comfortable. The view from our room (The Dolphin) was spectacular. Sitting on our spacious balcony, we had a perfect view of Willy's Rock and the sunsets. The room itself was clean with the amenities you need (a/c, stocked frig, comfy bed, and hot showers). In the morning, we have a respectable breakfast at the outdoor bar (and mid-afternoon thirst-quencher). We enjoyed staying at the quieter Station 1 instead of 2 or 3, where it is busier and vendors are more prevelant. If we were interested in shopping or bar-hopping, the other stations are only a 15 minute walk down the beach. The highlight of our stay in Boracay was dinner at the SpiderHouse. Located by Nami, its "cave" entrance, open-air view of the water, and mixers enriched the relaxation factor for us.

“Great experience at Nigi Nigi”

Nigi Nigi Beach Resort

Spent two nights at Nigi Nigi. Great restaurant, if a little pricey. But good place to stay if you're looking for a romantic feel. The cottages are tucked away and rather secluded, but easy access to beachfront when you're ready for the hustle and bustle. I'd stay here again during my next visit to Boracay,
