Nigi Nigi Nu Noos 'e' Nu Nu Noos offers a different look and feel in the accommodations. Our room was upstairs with an open roof, so the air flows through, but not let the rain in. Because of this openness, our bed came with a mosquito net. It's like being in a tropical hut on stilts, feeling wind blow through, hearing birds chirping clearly, seeing people walk by underneath. This is really neat. It's a modern hut with stairs. It's inconvenient putting up with the mosquito net. But how often can you experience a tropical setting like this in a hotel room? Along with this openness, which offers an experience I wouldn't get in a regular walled room. I feel my senses heightened and closer to nature but with most of the modern conveniences. It makes for a great romantic getaway except any noise you make will be clearly heard.
If you want to minimize this openness, ask for an air-conditioned room for a higher charge, probably a room below. They also offer rooms with a small fridge, which our room lacked. We had an outdoor balcony with seating space available -- really nice. Don't hang up clothes outside on the balcony; my t-shirt blew away from the wind. Refer to their binder for a list of recommended places to go. This place is gay friendly.
Book your accommodation directly to save money instead of booking through an agent. The happy hour at their bar gets quite busy from 5 to 7pm when there's no storm.
Del, one of the managers, was very personable and came over and chatted with us while we were in the dining area, with a toucan resting on her arm. The bird tried to fly away twice, and each time it was found almost dead. The wings of this bird were clipped so it couldn't fly away any longer.
This place isn't the cheapest, nor by a long shot the most expensive. It's one of the earliest establishments, built with a British engineer who knows what's he's doing.
We met a couple nice people, a German tourist named Heinz and a British Airways flight attendant at the bar.
Overall, I think it's a very good choice. The experience staying in a open roof room is a really nice experience itself, especially to share with a romantic partner.
Allow yourself an extra day or two for flexibility of your schedule. All boat trips were cancelled due to a tropical storm, we could have left if we had caught an boats leaving earlier that morning. But I also came down with diarrhea, fortunately the hotel provided me with some pills for this problem. The storm lifted and we were able to leave the next day.
The name is a funny long one, and so your memory of your visit will be too, as I think back fondly on it myself.
