Verdict: Find some place else. There are a lot of choices. Not worth your headache.
1.Forgot airport pick-up: Waling-waling forgot to send an airport pick up for our party of six. Luckily, we are locals and we were able to book a ride to the terminal. But the airport pick up was part of the deal. How did Waling-Waling resolved this? The hotel said that instead of refunding us the cost, we would just have free dinner. Take note: Waling Waling restaurant is much more expensive than the restaurant choices in Station 2. Thus, we didn’t really get “reimbursed”.
2.“Upgraded” to a beachfront room: We initially booked a “villa” with Waling Waling. Initial booking were for six people, but we called a few months before December and told Waling Waling’s reservations office that there are now 9 people. When we got there, we were not able to get a villa because we were told that renovations were not completed of some sort or that it was full (couldn’t remember exactly but the excuse was kind of lame). We were then “upgraded” to one beachfront room instead with two queen beds and one bathroom. There were 6 of us in that room with one bathroom. To make matters worse, we were told that there is no room for the other 3 people and they were instead placed in another hotel that is very spartan. As a background, we booked the villa thinking that it is some sort of a private cabin that has enough room and accommodate a huge party. Instead we were told that the villa is actually smaller than the beachfront room. We don’t know for sure if we were just taken for a spin.
3.Suggestion form never came: We asked for a suggestion form because of the service slip-ups that have happened. We were promised that it will be sent to our room by a gentleman who was at the front desk. Guess what, it never came.
4.Policy over customers’ best interests: On new year’s day, we requested for foot massage services. We were told that they are all on vacation on new year’s day. Somehow, we found three massage ladies from a different hotel. Surprises of surprises, we were told that Waling Waling that there is an exclusive club of massage service providers that are allowed into the hotel and these three ladies from a different hotel are not allowed in. We asked the front desk whether they can make an exception since Waling Waling certified massage providers are all out that day. The front-desk guy (same guy who never sent the suggestion form) said that it is their policy not to allow these massage service providers into their hotel. When we told him that this was not in the best interest of their customers, he said he knows that and will ask management. He said he will get back to us in 15 minutes! When we told him that we are not leaving until he makes the call, we were able to get an answer in less than 1 minute. After so much haggling, we were allowed to get our massage.
There are some redeeming factors for Waling Waling.
1.The area and beachfront is great.
2.There are some truly friendly service people.
