Upon arrival, the doorman helped us with our luggages and direct us to the receiption. We checked in early coz we just change our hotel and on our way to sentosa Island. I did not mind if they do not have room since we will only be back by nite. To my surprise, they have a ready room for us. They also promised to place my colleague who was arriving in the afternoon a room near to us.

Once back from the Island, only then we have the time to check the room. It is very spacious with 2 double beds. We were not even required to add rollaway even though we have our 2 kids along. It is entirely up to us. The amenities is way above commonly found 3/4 stars hotel. Everything was there, the iron and board, fridge, internet line, toothbrush and toothpaste, abundant of fresh towels, etc. All the used stuffs will be changed daily without request. The TV channels need a bit more improvement though. I bit more ASTRO favorite channels such as AXN should be added.

The BF was nice and has variety. The only concern is the non-halal part. Nonetheless, we opted for eggs (made to order), fruits, breads, and vegetarian fried noodles or rice. But if u do stay more than 3-4 days, do venture out for the roti prata or nasi lemak in the restaurants across the street.

The pool was adequate though I did not have the time to actually swim there. But my kids enjoyed it. They have a wading pool for the kids as well.

The location though a bit far from the central place, it is only 200-300 m walk to a direct bus to orchard road. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, not sure where the bus route is to, but can be checked in transitlink website. The nearest MRT station and mall is around 500 m abt 10-15 mins walk. The main reason we stayed here is the distance to our training site and the halal restaurant are just 150m across the street. Since I need to buy food for my kids in the hotel every lunch, this is a real bonus. Do try Mak Esah Cafe, their rendition of malay cooking is very close to perfection. I should know this since I am from Kuala Lumpur (the food heaven for Malay cuisine). Their price also is very reasonable (around SGD2.50 to SGD5.00). Beware of their satay though. I was not as good as it should.

My daughter (14) and I have just returned from a week at this hotel. A word of advice dont turn right out of the hotel go left towards Ophir Road, you will find Bugis is just there. The mrt is very close and convenient. There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel, in the basement of the shopping plaza is a really nice bakery. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful the doormen were really nice especially. The concourse shopping centre has since closed. However Starbucks is still open. The room service breakfast was great and good value.

What a nasty surprise finding my credit card charged with some other guest's mini bar bill a couple of weeks after our stay! I had notified reception staff 5 minutes after we entered our room that there were obviously a number of mini bar items missing and they were all smiles and promised to fix it up and that of course we would not get charged for it. I was slightly annoyed when on checkout a mini bar bill was presented and I had to explain for the second time that it was not ours and that I had notified them before. Yet on returning home a month later I found that they had charged my credit card for that same bill unauthorized. I contacted my bank, they will send a form - it can still take a few weeks but I'm expecting to get my money back eventually. The bank also advised to contact the hotel, which I have done, but so far they have not bothered to even reply.

Other issues:
We had booked the parkroyal through singapore airlines stopovers and had booked and paid for a room for 3 people (2 adults & a child – same price as 3 adults) The room that was originally given to us was as noisy as the airplane being next to some large machinery, air con, whatever, way too noisy to sleep in, and with a view of a wall, bins and smoking employees. So we asked for a different room and were shown a small twin room, which was looking over the front road and was much quieter. They assured us they could squeeze an extra bed into that room and fit it out for the third person. It was so tight that there was only a space of 13cm between the skinny folding bed and the proper bed. Although there had been a third towel added, none of the other items, cups, glasses, face washers, toothbrush etc. had been adjusted for 3 guests. Fact is that this hotel advertises that small children stay free and the additional bed is provided free of charge, yet we had payed for 3 people and did not get an adequate room nor a refund for the third person’s extra amount.

The buffet breakfast was good, we enjoyed a large selection of good quality food.

We booked a Club Floor room as we were arriving into Singapore at 6am & the hotel was happy to let us into the Club Lounge at 7am.

On arrival,we were checked in promptly,ushered to the lounge for breakfast & promised the 1st available room,by 8.15 we were in.
6th floor room had king bed & plenty of light with a leafy view across Beach rd,bathroom was fine with all the expected toiletries etc.

Club included evening drinks & nibbles from 6-8pm,mainly sushi which is fine if you like that. Staff were helpful & friendly.
Breakfast was simple buffet style plus eggs cooked by chef.

Pool & spa area is outstanding,huge pool open til 10pm which is handy to cool off after dinner.

This hotel is across the road from Arab St which is a wonderful,colorful area of Singapore & quite a contrast from the Orchard Rd experience.Great place to wander around or just sit & watch the world go by with a tea tarik or lime juice.
Also a 10 min stroll from Bugis night market.

We dont eat at hotels so cant comment on the restaurants but the tea house looked like a fun experience.

Overall,we had a great time at Beach Rd & thought it was outstanding value for the price.We'll be back for sure
