Stayed here with my husband, mother-in-law, and hard-to-please father-in-law (FIL) from Feb. 6-11, 2006. The location was perfect, it was shopping heaven anywhich direction you turn! We checked in late at night and we were informed that all our requests cannot be given to us as the hotel was fully booked at the moment. We got a twin room instead of a double room and we were in a smoking floor instead of a non-smoking floor. My FIL, being from Vancouver, is used to efficient customer service and he refused to accept that the hotel cannot meet our requests. The room itself was not so bad but there were some wallpaper that were already peeling. We were informed that the hotel was undergoing some renovations and it was evident that it does need the work. The next day, after some major grilling from my FIL, we were informed that there were finally 2 rooms available in the non-smoking floor. We were given the new key without so much an offer to have someone move our luggages for us. After moving into the new room we discovered that there was no WIFI access so we had to move back up to the smoking room so as not to waste the expensive WIFI access card that we had purchased. Breakfast was nothing to get excited about, in fact we decided to skip it after having it the first morning. We woke up to paint fumes on the 2nd day, they were painting some rooms on our floor and never bothered to apologize for the potent odor. The only redeeming feature is its great location. The in-laws can shop a bit then head back to rest then head back out for more shopping.
