“miserabel unhelpful staff”

Hotel Neruda

Nov 11, 2007

All we wanted out of this hotel was classy treat to top off 3 weeks travelling in south america on a high. This place was a disaster from start to finish. our room was ground floor and had half of santiago walking by the window & dodgy characters lingering outside. the second room had faulty electrics which cut out when i used the hairdryer. it took 40 minutes and several trips to reception before anybody came to help us. there are no guest guidelines in the hotel so if you do not speak spanish working out how to use the internet or the gym is a nightmare because everyone on reception ignores you or looks at you like you are ignorant or stupid.
You expect that sometimes there are problems when abroad but the sign of a good hotel is
1) that they are sympathetic/apologetic
2) that they sort the problem quickly & efficiently

Neruda didn't once call to check that everything was ok, even after all the electricty went off in our room! NOt so much as a complimentary drink or box of chocolates
5 star? i wouldn't pay 40 quid a night to stay there let alone £90

“Great Hotel, Great Location”

Hotel Neruda

4 of 5 stars
Port Moresby
Jul 10, 2007

Having checked out of the Orly after a sleepless night I checked into Hotel Neruda. The check in staff were great and allocated me the quietest room in the hotel. The room itself was huge (four times the size of Orly) and well appointed. Great bathroom and shower. Excellent breakfast (included in room rate). Great location in providencia. Highly recommend and would staff here again.

Only draw back is lack of natural light in some of the rooms - but the benefit is little outside noise.

“Hotel Neruda was Great!”

This small, beautiful hotel sits on a tree-lined street across from a stately Victorian-era museum. The lobby/breakfast room is modern, attractive and welcoming. Two small elevators take guests to the upper floors which have not been updated, but are clean and well-lighted.

Our room was a HUGE surprise--as we had reserved a Double at an economy rate (about $80/night). It was a large suite, maybe 500+ sq. feet, with a large living room area, two double beds, TV & fridge, a walk-in closet with shelves, drawers, and hanging space, a large double sink vanity, and large marble-floored bathroom.

The location is EXCELLENT for accessing public transportation to any section of the city, and safe for walking many blocks in all directions (before dark). Lots of neighborhood food options, an inexpensive telephone service about 2 blocks away adjacent to the shopping center; grocery stores within 3 blocks, etc.

We used SouthAmericanHotels.com to book this hotel and received excellent assistance and advice. Although I had selected another hotel first, when they learned that I was disabled, Hotel Neruda was suggested as being more accessible.

“Needs updating”

Hotel Neruda

Montreal
Feb 18, 2007

Spent 3 days at the Neruda. Great location, great breakfast but the hotel needs to be upgraded. The air condition was not strong enough, the bathroom cabinets were worn. Room service and housekeeping was very good. The pool was too hot and the water was not clear. Work needs to be done to be a 3 star hotel.

“Disappointing for Wedding Guests”

Hotel Neruda

1 of 5 stars
Santaigo, Chile
Jan 17, 2007

My family and friends stayed at Hotel Neruda for my wedding. Hardly any of the staff spoke English and I could NEVER get through on the phone line to speak with my family.

Some friends stayed at the Apart-Hotel of Hotel Neruda and there was construction going on the whole time. Other guests could never get the key to the gym to work. There were various other problems, including some major miscomunications on when people were checkign out (they charged us extra for the miscomunication).

Good location, but that's it!
