I stayed at this hotel in connection with an Elderhostel tour. We stayed there at the beginning of the tour and then again at the end. The hotel is frequently used by package tours as well as for business events. Do not let that put you off. It was a clean, quiet hotel with a helpful front desk. Staff at the desk does speak English--more than enough to assist you with your needs.

The hotel is in the Providencia area and you can easily walk to the cable car that goes to the top of the mountain in Santiago. I did that on the last day. I went down the other side on the funicular and then walked a short distance to Pablo Neruda's house. After the tour (in English) at Neruda's house, it was a quick and cheap taxi ride back to the hotel.

We arrived after an internet booking and immediately the receptionist could not find our booking. An international call home later (much exppense spared) they magically found our booking although confirmed that we had not booked half board-. although we had!! Finally got to our room and were given twin beds although we had booked a double queen size and told that we could change the next day. The next day there were no other rooms available. The first night we were then telephoned to say that we had paid for the evening meal although no apologies. With our booking we had also paid for a hotel transfer to airport but surprisingly no reservation known to hotel!! Generally we have had problems since we arrived and although the rooms are ok and food not bad we would generally not recommend this hotel and regret ever paying the not so cheap tariff.

The hotel is located in a good neighborhood, calm, quiet and close of everything.

The subway is near too and the breakfast is ok. The room service works fine and the room is very nice.

The only concern is about the chilean mood. Every place I visited, the service is the same. They do not do anything written on their handbook. They are not so friendly and they always use the most complicated way to perform easy tasks.

Hotel Torremayer staff was attentive and quite helpful. Rooms were quiet with nice views; breakfast was huge. Walking neighborhood was very pleasant with shopping, gelateria, nice restaurants and modest neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops & metro stop all within a block or 2 or 3. All couldn't have been better at a modest price. Reminded us very much of small European hotels.
Metro was all we were told it would be. Easy to navigate & reasonable.
