The RCI advertises its strengths as based on its quaintness , antique furnishings, city views, and gourmet breakfasts. The reality is much different. The halls and stairways are drab and narrow with a "ho hum" decor. The bedrooms are equally dark and cramped with barely enough room for an average sized bed. The bathrooms are ludicrously smallish and aged with sagging cheap, plastic shower stalls. Amenities consisted of mismatched, threadbare towels (like one would take on camping trips). One cake of soap was supplied for two people for two days with one water glass of dubious origin. The purported antiques consist of some antiques but a larger eclectic mix of just plain used furniture. The touted views can only be accessed from the uppermost terrace and consist of the roof tops of the adjoining buildings (to include the next door youth hostel) with a distance glimpse of water.
The breakfast consists of a omelet, fruit, and pastries--gourmet?
I opted for their" grand suite" which was smaller than any "junior" suite that I stayed in--but at a higher price. The room was so dark that it was impossible for any reading. Caveat Emptor!!

Falsity or “Falsitas”(Latin) best describe this review. Very hard to respond to perversion of truth culminating in damaging and ill intended reviews. Luckily, most if not all the other reviews would disagree with this person’s commentary together with the 100s of satisfied passengers we have had the privilege and honour of hosting for nearly 8 years.
I will try to respond if nothing else to educate.
Relating to his opening statement that we advertise our strengths based on our quaintness, antique furnishings, city views, and gourmet breakfasts, the following;
We most definitely subscribe and reaffirm all the above so called advertisement strengths. Though have to correct this person by stating that we have never advertised. We simply don’t and have never advertised our beautiful Inn. However we do have a web page which has many photos which clearly will dismiss as untrue most if not all the commentaries of this reviewer. And all the statements in that web page are factual and true, unlike the commentaries of reviewer.
We are definitely quaint although we do not use this word in our web page and it is mainly used by other reviewers in describing the Inn. Nonetheless it is quaint in that by its definition it fits perfectly; “unusual or old-fashioned in a pleasing way, singular; unusual; curious, fanciful; whimsical.
Antique furnishings. We most definitely have a great and magnificent array of antique furnishings, objects and rugs.” An object having special value because of its age, especially a domestic item or piece of furniture or handicraft esteemed for its artistry, beauty, or period of origin”
Persian rugs, armoires, chests marble top dressers, tapestries, Navajo rugs, Navajo pottery, mapuche rugs, mapuche pottery and banquets, silver pieces/platters, oil paintings European/Chilean/American artists and on and on.
However it does require a relatively educated eye to determine this artifacts and furnishing. Certainly someone that can differentiate a used furnishing from a valuable antique. In this case the reviewer definitely does not have an eye for antiquities or valuable furnishings. Or simply missed them in the dark hallways.
City views. Oh boy, hard to respond to this one having all our previews reviewers give a totally different opinion of our “magnificent views”. Suffice to say that we have awesome views not only to the Ocean, Port, bay, adjoining cities, hillsides and Andes Mountain, but also from the City. Maybe to dark to see from the dark hallways but you definitely need to be looking from the street level to see only roof tops.
Gourmet breakfast. Our breakfast also raved by all our passengers it is food of the highest quality and flavor, prepared well and presented in an artful manner, thus gourmet. Again this person definitely by his question mark does not know the meaning of “gourmet”. Furthermore, “A good gourmet, must have le goût friand", or a refined palate”.
The rest of reviewer’s commentaries are untrue,
The hallways and stairs are 4 ft in width meeting evacuation and fire safety standards and they are very bright with natural sun through glass. They are of cheerful color and they are adorning with beautiful and eclectic pieces and or wall hangings. The rooms are all extremely well lighted and most of them with great windows. The Loft and Sky suite’s with walls of glass for magnificent views and balconies. Bathrooms are large and with white and color tiles, newly refurbished and spacious. Towels are imported annually and made of imported heavy cotton. Soap and sparkling clean items such as glasses hair dryers, etc. Most of our rooms have views if not full, partial but with views. Some of which have walls of glass, so the statement that the only views are from the terraza it’s totally untrue. The Inn is painted every year, the wood is treated and stained twice a year and the property is maintain impeccably clean year around 24 hours a day.
Regarding this passenger staying at a “grand suite". Must say we don’t have any “grand suite". The only suites that could be classified as grand are the Sky and Loft. One which is 400 approx. and the other 480 sq ft approx. Both have at least 2 walls of glass. One with 180º views the other with 360º views.
Simply shameful.
