“Classic Botique Hotel”

Hotel Patio Andaluz

Winter Park, Florida

Stayed there 2 days prior and one following a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Beautiful small hotel in "Old" Quito close to historic buildings, squares, churches etc .. Staff very accommodating, dining above average. Suggest reviewing room accommodations prior to settling in as some rooms have unique bathroom facilities especially if two couples are rooming together. Also music in the dining area in the evening might be too loud if you are looking for a good nights sleep, there are rooms away from the dining area.

“what a shame”

Hotel Patio Andaluz

This hotel is in a great position to visit the historic part of the city.
Initial impressions of the hotel are very good, the staff were really great too.

I had requested a room on the 2nd patio on the 2nd floor as mentioned in many other trip advisors reviews, this was confirmed via emails but we were continually upgraded to a duplex suite- not usually a problem. The upgrade was to a duplex suite situated on the first patio (where the restaurant is and where early morning leavers walk to leave the hotel) this can be very noisy as we found out on our first night when we were just too tired to complain.

We stayed a total of 4 seperate nights, each time we left we checked to ensure the room would be on the 2nd pation and each time we arrived we found it was on the first so it had to be changed.

We stayed in October which is quite a cool time, the rooms were quite stuffy then, we had to get a fan one night. In the heat the rooms would be unbearable as there is no ventilation apart from a small ceiling fan which just whisked the warm air around and kept us awake.

It is such a shame because the hotel is beautiful and the staff work very very hard but you can see on their faces that they know the problems- they nod in agreement before you finish telling them what's wrong!

If you do stay here go down to main square, at the far end take the road on the left hand side, have breakfast at Cafeto- really good and at $1.99 great value.

“Good Hotel Good Location”

Hotel Patio Andaluz

4 of 5 stars
Reno, NV. USA
Oct 1, 2007

Hotel is in a good location in old town. The lobby and building are well maintained and attractively furnished and decorated. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The staff worked very hard to maintain the looks and cleanliness of the hotel. Our room was large and nicely decorated and maintained. We had no complaints with the hotel. At the published rate I don't think it is good value for Quito.

“In the middle of Old Town”

Location, location, location. The hotel was a block from all the famous churches and plazas. It was half a block from the Presidential Palace where you can see the changing of the guards. Rooms we had opened to the inner court. They were small but comftorable. Luxurious bath amenities but major negative was no air conditioning or way to open a window. If you wanted fresh air, you had to open your hotel room door. Personnel were extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. Recommended if you want to be closest to the Old Town.

“Wonderful Hotel with great staff”

Hotel Patio Andaluz

5 of 5 stars

This is a beautiful hotel in the Colonial District of Quito. The staff were great--every single person who worked there was wonderful from the door man, bell man, front desk clerks, the housekeeping staff, and the wait staff in the restaurant. I requested a fan and a hair dryer, and within a minute someone was at the door with both. The first night I was there, I was supposed to meet a guide, and there was a ploitical parade, and the tour guide was having a problem getting to the hotel. The tour guide called the hotel, and the front desk had the bell man to walk me to where the guide was. I have never stayed in a hotel with more friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel room was beautiful. I had a room with a living room area on the first floor, and a spiral staircase to the loft area where the bed and bath were located. The room was really beautiful and I have never stayed in a room like the one at the Patio Andaluz. I had requested a fan, but I woke up in the middle of the night and it was cool in the room, so I really did not need it.

The library at the hotel was also beautiful. I would go in there and have tea and they had a bowl of fruit. It was very relaxing.

The Patio Andaluz is a wonderful hotel and I think anyone who stays there will enjoy it and the staff is so wonderful.

One other thing--I went out in the area at night, and it wasn't bad. I would not have gone out alone, but with friends no one bothered us.
