“Avoid the rooms with open ductwork”

We were booked through OAT travel, two nights first, then two nights after Machu Pichu. First stay was ok, they booked us on the 5th floor. Second stay was bad. They put us in room 210 which is right above the restaurant. Unknown to us, there is open ductwork from below right into our closet. There was a party the 2nd night with loud music and speeches. We heard everything as if we were at the party. At 10:30 pm, we called the front desk to complain. Lady said party was going to end in half hour. At 11:30 pm, we called again, lady said party was going to end in half hour. Finally, at 12:30, I was furious. Lady said the party ran overtime, she was going to get her supervisor to end the party. After that, the clean-up took another hour. Lot of noise and banging around. We had to get up at 5 am that morning. The problem was not the party. Those guys probably paid good money to book the resto. The problem is---why is there open ductwork into our closet? It is a major structural defect in the hotel. Here are two pictures, one of the closet and the other of the bathroom. If you book this hotel, ask for a room without the ductwork. Check the room out as soon as you arrive.

“A great hotel”

A good clean hotel with very helpfull staff , a couple of reviewers have commented on its distance to the main square but its really only a 10 minute walk maximum. My travelling companion slipped and had a bad fall on the reception floor (another guest had dripped water there from an umbrella) the staff couldnt have been more helpful and even alerted our tour guide the next morning in case she needed medical attention.
An additional nice touch from the staff was insisting on posting our postcards for us when we asked where was the nearest post box- well worth a stay here

“Good, off-centre hotel”

A good quality hotel a little off-centre as other reviews have commented. The walk up to the Plaza des Armas is not far but perhaps better done by taxi at night given Cusco's reputation, although we had no trouble. A taxi is only 5 soles so it's no big deal. Our room had a good view up Avda del Sol, but others might look out on the railway station. Good buffet breakfast, but didn't use the restaurant. Underground garage.

“Good overall”

I can't rate the price of the hotel since we were upgraded by our travel agency because of a reservation error.

Overall, the rooms, lobby, and other facilities were clean and well maintained. It deserves the four stars it boasts. The atmophere is quite fancy given Cusco standards.

There are only two problems that I can find with the hotel. The first is that the staff was at times too busy chatting with each other to focus on the guests. The second is that the hotel is a good distance from the plaza. It's safer to take a cab to the plaza than walk to and from the hotel at night.

We stayrd three night here and enjoyed our stay. We had breakfast daily which was well presented and more than adequate.

The hotel is located right across from a large market selling all kinds of souvenirs.

One evening we walked up the street and had excellent woodfired pizza at Romano's.

This stay was arranged by Lima Tours which was excellent with all of the details for our trip to Peru.
