After reading the reviews on tripadvisor this was the hotel we chose for a 4 day stay in Cusco... and we're definitely glad we did.

As all the other reviews states - the staff/owners are the main reason for staying here. They were so friendly and helpful, happily explaining options for getting around, organising taxis and tours if you'd like - but not pressuring you into using them. The staff were very knowledgeable about the local area, attractions, restaurants and very happy to give out advice and tips on anything you asked about. They also kept our bags when we went to Macchu Picchu and checked us into our flights online.

The room we had was cosy enough, with a heater provided and small little bathroom. Free bottled water was also provided. The TV wasn't in the room but in a shared relaxation area (per floor) just outside of the room door, along with free books, coffee & tea equipment and several sofas. The bed was comfy and we'd happily relax into it in the evening after trekking around Cusco.

Breakfast was served by a sweet little lady and consisted of a good spread of continental type foods (including very fresh bread), and then a selection of eggs which were tasty. I liked that they had a good selection of yogurt drinks available for you to choose from as well as the usual fruit juices and hot drinks.

The hotel is out of the town centre in a suburb, this negative is balanced by the free taxis they offer (into town you ask at reception, from town you call them on the number they provide from a pay phone which will cost you S/.0.20). The three taxi drivers they use are also very friendly. Also on both arrival and departure the hotel taxis took us from the train station and to the airport which was nice (normally in Peru we had to pay for departure taxis)

The only negative we had was dogs barking - which we could hear when we went to sleep, and also started the following day. We slept straight through it, but, other more delicate sleepers might be affected.

We'd definately be back if we came to Cusco again

We had a very good stay at Torre Dorada (thanks to Tripadvisor recommendations we found this place).

The service is very friendly. Without asking they gave excellent recommendations for sightseeing. Excellent English spoken. We arrived in the evening and they also had delivery lists from two restaurants (pizza and Chinese) and made the order. This was very convenient.

The hotel is outside the center. When you arrive, you make them a phone call from a public phone and they pick you up. When you go to the center they dropp you off and when you are ready you call them and they pick you up. Very comfertable and good value for money. When you leave they take you to the airport.

Breakfast was ok. Good view over the city from the breakfast room.

Our room was small and of average quality. The hotel is highly recommended for the exceptionally friendly and helpful service.

Excellent restaurants. Great food. My wife and I really loved the Torre Dorada Hotel. You should be able to negotiate a price for around $50 or less per night. We actually pre-booked the rooms through someone else in the states and way over paid. Maybe the rooms would go for more like thirty I am unsure. But an excellent little hotel! Very warm. STAY AWAY from ANDEAN LIFE. They are a Machu Pichu tour operator. They operate tours for other destinations as well. They will poorly plan your trip and then rip you off. That is what happened to my wife and I. When we asked for a refund they flat out refused. I guess we were not important enough to them. However, everything else about Cusco was quite charming! A lovely little town at around 12,000 feet.

We spent four nights at the Torre Dorada and liked it very much. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The lovely lady who provided breakfast was a gem.
The hotel is in a great location away from the tourist bustle.
The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Internet access and heating was free.
The only negatives were sound travel from another room and no hot water on our last night!
