“Good Hotel, But Nothing Spectacular”

Melia Lima

Stayed in this hotel for three nights in April 2008. The rooms are small, but comfortable, and the bathrooms are clean. The rooms facing the street can be noisy if you open the window, otherwise it's fine. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok, it's decent, but nothing to brag about.

The hotel is located in a good neighborhood (lots of Embassies nearby), but there isn't much around to see (there's a 24 hour pharmacy across the street and a market down the street), but the beach is within walking distance (15-20 minutes).

If you're going to venture out into Lima then ask the concierge to help you get a cab and/or dinner reservations.

I'd stay here again.

“Perfectly Reasonable hotel”

Melia Lima

May 2, 2008

We stayed her twice in August 07 as a family 2 kids 7 and 11. The hotel is OK nothing special but clean reasonably close to the airport and not too far 15 minute cab to Miraflores. There appears to be nothing in the immediate area to tempt the tourist. The rooms are adequate for a short stay. The breakfast buffet is excellent one of the best we have had on our travels. The bar is poor low ceiling and lacking in atmosphere. Staff were good and happy to practice their English with the kids and allow them to try Spanish. They were also helpful in arranging tours taxi's etc.Overall OK for a short stay.

“Nice business class hotel”

This is a very nice hotel; clean, modern, comfortable. It is an excellent choice for a Lima overnight layover on the way to Cusco, being that it is fairly close to the airport. For a lengthier stay, not sure I'd recommend it, as the area is not the nicest.

“The employees stole our credit card! How's that for a welcome?”

At first sight, the hotel is quite nice. When the front desk staff asked us for a credit card our 16 year old friend decided to put down her new credit card - which she had never used before or since (she got it for this trip!), not even to get cash out of an atm. The short story is that several weeks after we left the country she got a call from her credit card company saying that someone in Peru was trying to charge over $400 to her card. They knew she had already left the country so they denied the charges but it was definitely a rude awakening for a teenager! We knew exactly who had done it, it had to have been one of the employees at the front desk! Needless to say we won't ever be staying at the Melia Lima again.

“Great place to start your Peruvian adventure”

Melia Lima

Feb 14, 2008

I spent some time here in May 07 , Aug 07 and Dec 07as well. Its always lovely to return to this very friendly hotel. The staff always smile and even remembered me when I returned. The reception speak good English are very courteous and helpful.

Rooms are smart and clean but it is a shame you have to pay for internet access and there is no wireless available in room, cable only. There is a business centre where you can access if you dont have your laptop with you (again you pay) but wireless access in the lobby area is free.

Breakfast buffet is good although I felt the selection of food in December was far inferior to that of May.

The hotel is well placed for access to the rest of the city...everything is a cab ride away and the doormen will flag you a secure taxi. transfers are also available to the airport although they are a bit more expensive using more upmaket (for Peru) cars and drivers ( in keeping with the establishment itself).

The area is pretty secure and you sfely walk a ciouple of blocks to the supermarket , farmacia or to resaturants.

Overall I would certainly recommend the Melia Lima which has become the benchmark that I compare all other Lima hotels by...not many measure up.
