I go to Miraflores every year and I can say that it is one of the safest cities I have ever visited. Taxis are cheap, I definitely wouldn't recommend to rent a car. Peru is well-known in South America for its cuisine, and once again the prices are a bargain. There is an artisan market close to Miraflores Central Park where you can negotiate the prices. Wong and Vivanda are some of the food stores there and you will find it very convenient all around miraflores. Cafe Cafe and Cafe La Paz are some of my favorites. The night life at the mall overlooking the sea is interesting (I believe it is on Thursday nights when it gets packed with youngsters filling the bars).
