I just returned from a trip to Peru, starting out 2 nights in Lima at the Sol de Oro. The hotel was fine, service great (as it is everywhere in Peru) but if I could do it again I'd splurge a bit more for the JW Marriot which is right on the coast, directly across from the Larco Mar shopping center.

The Sol de Oro was clean but not as nice a room/hotel as I'd expected from viewing their website and the view out the room windows (which are just glass panes that open and turn sideways and allow alot of city street noise in) is nothing you'd want to take a photo of.

With safety being a concern in Lima, its important where you stay. Pay a little more and pick the Marriot.

Everything about this establishment was wonderful; the staff, the surroundings, the room and the food. The hotel is located in a quiet part of Miraflores, however, it is an easy walk to the coastline and shopping. We would definitely stay there again.

I was delighted with this hotel. The rooms were very clean and spacious. It is very westernized and the staff was incredibly helpful.
