Of all the places we visited in south america, Lima was most disappointing. However Home Peru is a haven, beautiful colonial big house with spacious rooms, friendly staff and is very well priced.

The only bad experience of racism in my whole life I got with Home Peru
Hard to believe that living in America for 20 years I find the only RACIST experience of my life with people living in such of diversify and beautiful contry as Peru.
I make reservation at this place from NYC,no problem I use my credit card the manager was kind even send me a email confirming the room and all was great,until my fiance who is a Peruvian call Home Peru again 2 days before leaving NY.
This time the guy who said to be the owner ask my him if he was Hispanic, my fiance told him very proud that he was from Peru ,Trujillo .The "owner" answerd was: I am sorry I do not rent to Peruvians______totally speechless My fiance was in total shock an totally disgusting with the crappy exponation he have the nerve to tell him "Peruvians have bad reputation and no money to pay our high scale prices of our hotel" By this time I was the one on the phone My guy was just in too much of a shock to talk.
Excuse me ! this small minded man who said to be the owner is living in Peru have a Home Peru bussiness ,live and eat in this country ? but he do not rent rooms to Peruvians? ILEGAL ? Yes! unacceptable?Absolutly ! Racist? Hell Yes!
I did complain to all the tourist organizations in Peru and the (HI )Hosteling International Organization I can see they maybe they did not take me as serious as I will like .
But a place that discreminate against its own people do not have the rigth to be open for bussiness or the rigth to have a review of any kind no matter how gorgeous seems to be, for me is just as dirty and filthy as the racist views they proyect and hide bihind.Using the poor excuse that Peruvians Can't afford this high scale place,?
High ?Sure but in the list of racist discriminating totally unacceptable and ilegal ways they conduct their bussiness.
No matter where site I go I will be sure to give my opinion and warn everyone who believe that people CAN NOT be discriminated just because they born in a 3rd world country or they look certain way and I willl continue stand against this disgusting HOME PERU and its racist views.
So I ask how in the world this place still operating and calling themself HOME? Garbage to me.

The location is perfect, only walking distance to the center(Miraflores)
Clean room, good service, can't beat the price!
I only wish our bathroom had a door(our room had a private bath, since in peru you cannot flush the toilet paper & with the open bathroom, we had to use the shared toliet) But at 13 USD per person, one cannot expect more.

After a week in Cusco, we stayed here prior to returning to the states. After a minor medical mishap in the city, the staff at Home Peru ensured that we made it to the airport on time. They went above and beyond, even waiting at the airport to be sure all was okay with us.
