“Very nice staff, great location, reasonable price”

Casa San Martin

Jul 8, 2008

Great location in Miraflores. Able to walk 10 minutes to the central plaza and restaurants. Ladies at the front desk always smiling, although only one spoke English. She was able to arrange an afternoon group tour for us. Rooms were clean, but we were missing 1 set of towels which the ladies apologized for. Only complaint is the street noise being quite loud, mainly b/c the windows are thin and don't form a tight seal when closed. Also we heard a lot of voices from the lobby. We were served a great breakfast (scrambled eggs, ham, toast, fresh mangos, and oj) before our morning flight back home. Overall delightful service, very modest quarters and for a reasonable price, especially for Lima.

“Excellent value”

Casa San Martin

WE stayed at this hotel for a few days at the start of our trip and at the end.As many commented the hotel is well located in Miraflores ,close to restaurants and the beach.
Its clean with one of the best breakfast we had in our 19 days visit to Peru.Plenty of fresh fruit, real fruit juices and omelets made to order.Rooms were simple and average in size. The best, front the street.
However what makes this place special is the manager Lidia.
She goes out of her way to provide extra service.I,e restaurant reservation.city info and to accomodate your requests .i,e the installation of an extra lamp by your bed ,which entailed running a special electric line. This level of service at $84/day makes this hotel very good value.
Another observation is the fact that payment by cash is the best way .This is.true not only in this hotel but every where else in Peru ,specially in smalll hotels

“Comfortable, but nothing fancy”

I stayed at this hotel with friends for one night in June 08. The hotel looked exactly like the pictures from the outside, and somewhat like those of the inside. Overall, there was nothing bad about this place, but nothing particularly special. The rooms were quite spacious and clean, as was the hotel in general. A few quirks:

1.) The breakfast area was in a random little room on the first floor, and seemed kind of unfinished, as there were many nail holes and unpainted parts of the walls. There wasn't really a restaurant, nor could I figure out where the kitchen was...

2.) Watch out for the interior windows. Our bathroom window, when open, looked up directly to the hallway of the floor above, so people can see down into the bathroom. Not a problem, unless you're in there in your birthday suit... The other windows were much of the same, with views directly into our room from the hallways. Just keep the curtains closed.

3.) It's posted, but not very clearly, that if you pay with a credit card, there is an extra 7% charge to your rate. I read the little note on the side wall behind the reception desk AFTER paying my bill. Just so you know.

Overall this place is fine, great location, nice people. I would recommend, just keep in mind its "quirks."

“Nice hotel”

Casa San Martin

This is a really nice hotel. We booked it for our honeymoon based on reviews from trip advisor. We were given a quiet and spacious room on the top floor. The furnishings were pleasant and new and the hotel is very clean.

The hotel staff are exceptionally nice. Nothing was too much trouble. They went out of their way to help with all enquiries (and even greeted us with a bottle of bubbly on our arrival as it was the first night of our honeymoon which was particularly kind).

The breakfast was really nice (fresh fruit, eggs, bread, toast, good coffee, freshly squeezed fruit juice etc). It was all cooked to order and is served in their little breakfast room.

Their website is a little misleading because it says they have a restaurant which they don't but the hotel is in a nice, safe district and within 2-3 minutes of loads of really nice bars and restaurants serving a huge variety of international cuisine.

The website makes it look like a glitzy boutique hotel. The front of the hotel and the bedrooms look like the website photos but they are particularly "good" photos of those. It is probably a 3 star hotel by UK equivalent ratings but a nice 3 star. If you want glitz and marble then pay more and go to one of the multitude of glitzy 4/5 stars in the area.

The hotel is about 20 minutes taxi from the old town (on a good day) and about 45 minutes taxi from the airport (on a good day). The hotel are happy to arrange a car to collect you from the airport.

If you want a down-to-earth local hotel with pleasant rooms and excellent service then this hotel will suit you fine.

“Great Location and Helpful Front Desk”

Casa San Martin

Central location in Miraflores, near the Kennedy Park. The manager, Lidia, was very helpful. Loved the breakfast with fresh papaya, mango and pineapple as well as made to order omelets. Free and fast internet access. The Mirabus tours start nearby. Starting at 6pm, the double decker Mirabus is a wonderful way to see Lima by night and the new "Magical Fountains" which won a Guiness Record for having the highest shooting fountain in the world. I rated the Casa San Martin below "excellent" as the elevator was not working during our 3 day stay.
