“The highlight of our trip”

We absolutely *loved* the Kuychi Rumi! Having a fireplace (with fires prepared for us in the evening) was SO relaxing! Everything was taken care of (taxis, recommendations, advice) without being intrusive.

We also stayed at the Casa Andina (in the Sacred Valley) but we much preferred the Kuychi Rumi. The Casa Andina is basically a nice hotel, while the Kuychi Rumi felt more like you were staying in someone's home.

Rodrigo made everything easy and fun.

“First rate innkeepers”

Spent three nights at K'uychi Rumi on our way to MP. We ditto all positive reviews below. The innkeepers have anticipated every need. Claudia and Roderigo recommended tours, arranged car and guide, made restaurant reservations. They were always on the mark, and very reasonably priced by American standards.
Guests should not expect the accomodations or amenities of a luxury hotel. There are no "rooms". You will be staying in your own vacation cottage, in a lovely garden, greeted in the morning by friendly dogs. As another reviewer said, it feels like you are staying with friends --- if your friends happened to own a great, well-located property in the Sacred Valley. Those of you who only stay at Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, and the like would probably be disappointed with the absence of luxury and full service.
The breakfast service was more than expected. We did not need the "starter package" in our cottage.
K'uychi Rumi would be a perfect accomodation for families and mult-generational groups.

“Perfect base in Heart of The Sacred Valley”

Right from the planning stage (lots of emails for Rodrigo to deal with!) right through to saying a sad farewell to his mother, Claudia, the lovely hostess - we received kind, efficient attention & superb hospitality.
Rodrigo is (as we found out as we went along during the planning phase) a very efficient "tour operator" who handled all our bookings in Peru for all 11 days - from the Perurail tickets to taxis & guides to hotels throughout the country. It was all done brilliantly & he clearly has an excellent relationship with the hotels he uses (mostly in tripadvisor "top 5" small hotels), in several instances getting a better deal than I would have done directly.
Kuychi Rumi itself is very attractive with beautiful gardens - only a 5 minute taxi ride from the lively market town of Urumbamba (& the super friendly taxi driver, Jorges, was always on hand to collect & deliver one for about $1 each way).
One is allocated a 2 bedroom cottage, beautifully designed by Claudia's architect husband; there is a well equipped kitchen, dining table & chairs, a lovely fireplace in which fires will be lighted on request & even a little balcony & personal garden area. In fact the only minor detail which was missing was a heated towel rail, which we thought was needed having in mind the chilly evenings & the difficulty in getting one's towells dry. However in every other respect it was perfect and the maids even came in every day to make one's bed & tidy up.
Finally mention should be made of Claudia's 5 star breakfasts - well worth the 5 minute stroll to the nbreakfast room for; we certainly didn't use our excellent starter pack to replace this meal!
To summarise, I'll quote another reviewer:
5 star facilities & hospitality at a 3 star price

“Most hospitable stay in South America”

Not a bad thing to say about this hotel. From pre-planning months in advance to prompt pick up times, to a smiling face to hot cocoa tea ready after a long day of travelling. Rodrigo, Claudia, and Sophia are the real deals. It feels like you are staying with relatives. Any whim or request is greeted with a smile. I can't imagine a more hospitable and better valued hotel anywhere in the world. Don't even think twice about staying anywhere else in Sacred Valley.

“Magical Place in the Sacred Valley”

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2007 and it was amazing, not a long enough stay. The property is more beautiful than pictures can capture and the cottages are also more charming and larger than I imagined. Claudia and Rodrigo arranged our train tickets to MP and arranged for a driver (cheap) for us everyday so it was no hassle that the property is a little secluded. My favorite town Ollytatambo was just a short drive away which made it no problem.

The cottages are huge and charming. We opted for the stocked groceries in the kitchen and that was great; wonderful cheese, jam, bread, yogurt and eggs....delicious! The fire was started for us every night at our request. The sky is so black you can see every star. You feel like you have much privacy. The place was very clean and was cleaned for us everyday while we were out. Clauia could not have been more accomodating. I was a bit cold sometimes in the evening after we got home, but as soon as I showered, but on the heavy pajamas and cuddled up to the fire, it was no problem. We are definately staying here next time we visit the Sacred Valley. Only next time we are staying longer!!
