This hotel is now called the Melia Confort, and is still part of the Sol Melia chain of hotels.
We stayed at the Melia Confort for three nights, and found it to be a great choice for Montevideo.
It's only a block from the Punta Carretas shopping mall, which has a very good grocery store, and several decent choices for an inexpensive, casual meal.
It's also only a few blocks from Montevideo's handsome beaches, and is in a lovely. comfortable and safe neighborhood. I really appreciated that everything near the hotel was open over the weekend, unlike in the Old City, which was mostly closed. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard, but well stocked.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, comfortable and efficient. The roof deck was lovely and had great views of the city.
