Have stayed here many times. The hotel is a really good value hotel. You get a relatively large room, good service at the front desk, great location, free wifi for a low price.

Get the MaS card and you get a free newspaper in the morning.

The top floor pool/gym is excellent although a bit worn out.

Only negatives I have found are:
- Breakfast is not the best, few options
- Sometimes they screw up the non-smoking bookings. Twice I have been put in a smokers room. (One of the times though I was compensated with an upgrade to a Suite)

This hotel offers an unbeatable combination: it is just one block from the Punta Carretas Mall (where you can have a delicious meal at the restaurant EL Fogón), it is a well- kept property and has a hearty breakfast included in the rate (US$ 80). The Punta Carretas neighborhood is very pleasant to stroll (Rambla included) and you can hail a cheap cab to downtown if you want to, since the neighborhood is not so distant as Carrasco. I would stay in Tryp Meliá Montevideo again and I recommend it for anyone looking for an excellent deal.

We stayed at this hotel for a family occasion and had a two room apartment. The location was great, right down the street from the Punta Carretas shopping center. The room itself was plainly decorated but what impressed us the most was the 5 star service of the staff and the fantastic and very inexpensive room service. The staff always greated us with a smile and answered every question with professionalism. The breakfast buffet was extensive and great and the room service was some of the best food we had in Uruguay. The cost was $20 for three meals, wine and dessert. What a bargain. I would recommend this hotel based on its service and location but don't expect to have fancy rooms with down comforters because you won't find that here.

I can second most of the positive reviews written about the hotel. We found the staff to be quite nice although we didn't seem to get some messages. Even though we arrived around 11 PM we still were offered some champagne at the bar which should have closed and enjoyed the long conversation with the barman. There was a large TV there (good for a tennis tournament on then). True,,, the gym facilities were not good and the pool ..like a big bathtub..
Rooms are quiet, great being across from the golf course (fabulous birds there,,..walk over there even if you don't play..like a bird park). Walks along the beach were nice but there was a problem with mosquitos at the time.. some rare species immune to the cold but not dangerous...Breakfast room and restaurant were the same and quite nice in decor,etc....
We had 2 large double beds and they were excellent..
BAthroom OK but no bathtub...
The location is excellent.. nice restaurants and shopping, practically on the water and quiet.... easy to take cabs to the city.
