“Hidden gem in Europe's best kept secret”

Hotel Michele Sarajevo

I came to find the Hotel Michele through an internet article describing celebrity visits to Sarajevo (Bono), and I can see why the great and the good choose this as their home from home in Sarajevo. It is nicely secluded yet accessible for the culture and craic of Sarajevo's old town.

This family owned venture is a mixture of the eccentric and the refined. The 8 or so appartments come in cheaper than the vastly overrrated hotel rooms at Sarajevo's better known venues (avoid treading in the footsteps of journalists!). Breakfast is ample if not hearty, but you can have a freshly cooked omlette if you wish. On most of my stays I have not veen been charged for the minibar!

I have stayed on business all over the world, and I can safely say that not only is this (easily) the best hotel in Srajevo, it is in my top 3 all time. Everything from the service at the (cosy) reception, to the quirky but spacious ad immaculate rooms is as distinct and value for money as the city itself. Top notch and highly recommended for business bores, young lovers and families alike. Oh, and for a real treat, be sure to ask for the 'Richard Gere' suite!!

“great hotel but some problems”

This is a beautiful hotel with really friendly staff but, given the price, there are some issues. My room was on top floor and lift was not working. After climbing up the very steep hill (in very high temperatures) a climb up stairs was the last thing I needed! There was also a problem with ordering a taxi. I needed to catch 7am train to Budapest and was assured that it would be ordered. It wasn't. The hotel staff were apologetic and did get me a taxi but there was a problem with language and the taxi driver thought I was going to the airport . I did get to the train station with literally seconds to spare.

The hotel is very attractive and my room was lovely, but if it is trying to present itself as a top flight hotel it really needs to sort out these things. when I pay £100 a night I do expect a lift to work and for arrangements to be made for transport when I leave.

“Loved Hotel Michele”

We have loved out stay at the Hotel Michele, where we booked our two bedroom apartment after reading the hotel's website and reading TripAdvisor comments.

The hotel is everything it claims to be - very friendly staff; small and initimate, family run; extremely helpful with guidance and restaurant booking and advice; well located close to the old town; well appointed, cosy rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel.

We absolutely recommend it and would certainly book it again.

“Great Hotel”

Lovely little hotel. The service was outstanding from the welcoming drink of orohavaca (amazing walnut liquor), to the attentive staff that procured cabs, made sure we left well fed in the morning, and that our room sparkled. It was warm and welcoming after a long bus ride from Mostar. They found us great restaurants, recommended places to see, and generally took good care of us. I would and will go back!

“Original and the best in Sarajevo”

Hotel Michele Sarajevo

In short, there is no faulting the Hotel Michele.

On arrival at the Hotel Michele, a short uphill stroll from Sarajevo's main street you might be forgiven for thinking twice about your hotel choice, but on entering the grand old building you immediately sense the quality of accomodation.

Initially, we were welcomed by friendly staff who provided an introduction to Sarajevo and all it has to offer, in short, the perfect concierge service without the pretention of suited hotel chain generals.

Then, onto the rooms/apartments ..embarassingly big with lounge and bedrooms, all the facilities you need and each room unique in old fashioned european grandure ..... throw in a fantastic breakfast and you could not wish for a more pleasant experience .... perfect !
