“Best Place in the Country”

This was my second stay - the other in 2005 and things were just as excellent as the first time. This is really one of the best hotels in Europe and has an excellent staff.

Rooms and service were outstanding. but here are a few tips:

1. Hotel has no gift shop for small items (they do sell cognac and cigars though) but if you walk one block to the Sava Center, you can find anything you need there. It's completely safe, secure area.

2. Avoid the dinner buffets at the otherwise excellent restaurant.

“Very nice hotel, safe choice”

Stayed there for a 1 week business trip. Excellent hotel both for business and for tourists looking for a safe choice in terms of quality and international standards.
Hotel is located 10 minutes from city center by taxi. Taxis are very cheap. One way to city center with an old taxi car costs 3 eur.
Rooms are large, quiet and very clean, very well decorated with paintings and nice furniture, nice and soft colors. Same for bathroom that contains both shower and bath.
Food in hotel restaurants and at breakfast is very good too.
Service is skilled, discreet and even higher standard than in many 'developped' european countries.
Room service was quite good in average (just the rice was too dry).
Very nice swimming pool and jaccuzi, smaller sports room. Impressive lobby although quiet, with plants and fountains so it feels there is a garden inside.
Heard that in one of the restaurants/bars of the hotel they serve delicious cookies and that this is a famous and trendy place for Belgrade people to come and have tea there with their friends.

“Expected better.”

Hmmm, not all it was cracked up to be. Stayed here for 2 weeks on a work trip and had the following problems.
Couldn't get an iron and board delivered to my room for the entire duration. Had to get my clean but creased clothes pressed by the laundry service at hotel rates.
Although on a non smoking floor it was obvious that smoking was occuring in more than one room on my floor. Hotel was full and suspect they didn't care.
Reception staff were hit and miss but I don't speak Serbian so have to take some responsibility for this.
Rooms were good but not the best I have stayed in considering the price. Indoor pool was cold.
Belgrade was a pleasant surprise though, liked the place!

“The best choice for business travelers, not for tourists”

When I asked Serbian colleagues about booking a hotel in Belgrade, the answer was "The Hyatt is THE place to stay in Belgrade."

The Hyatt is possibly the grandest place to stay in Belgrade, but it is a hotel geared for business travel. It's decked out with all the modern amenities and facilities a business traveler would demand, including a 24-hour money exchange office and ATM. The rooms, while not breathtaking, are certainly up to the standard you'd expect of an international-class five star hotel. I also found the service to be close to impeccable, from the assistance from the concierge, the transportation desk, and especially at the excellent restaurant (note, however, that excellent and lavish meals are to be had in old Belgrade for approximately half the price of those at the Hyatt).

The one quibble I have is the Hyatt's location. It sits in the district of New Belgrade, about a 10 to 15 minute cab ride from most destinations in Old Belgrade, which holds considerably more interest. It took me 30 minutes or so to walk to Knez Mihailova, the main shopping street - but you'd probably not want to do this on a daily basis, as part of the route follows a heavily congested and polluted major artery. If you are traveling (as I was) on business this will not be a major issue, as it is extremely easy to catch a taxi from the Hyatt, but otherwise the location should give you pause.

If I were traveling to Belgrade on business, I would choose the Hyatt in a heartbeat, but if I were returning there as a tourist, I would opt instead for a hotel in Old Belgrade.
