We not only stayed in La Estancia for 10 days but also used their travel service. Although there were a few glitches in the latter, everything turned out better than we expected and I would highly recommend using both the planning services and the hotel.
The more we returned to La Estancia from outings to various places around Panama the more like home it felt. It was a huge relief to be located on Ancon Hill rather than in the middle of Panama City, which seemed overbuilt and lacking in charm to me. The only disadvantage to La Estancia is being a taxi ride away from meals, but you can order in Chinese, Mexican or Italian food so you can relax after a day of touring. Rooms are modest but perfectly comfortable and the exterior balconies and lounge areas entirely make up for small size of rooms. We loved it and the staff!!

We made our reservation online after reading reviews on the Trip Adviser. It sounded like the kind of place we would be comfortable at and it was just that. Not needing all the amenities that many expensive establishments offer, this B&B suited us perfectly. The whole place is very clean and quiet. There is a very nice walk to the top of Cerro Ancon to get a great view of the city. The breakfasts were excellent! The common rooms and balconies are great for meeting other travellers. Internet access was good and no extra charge. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Refreshments were available at night for a small fee.

We stayed here the first three days in Panama and also our last night. I appreciated booking our ride to and from the airport. directly through the B&B. When we arrived at the airport ,the driver Edwin, picked us out of the crowd and immediately made us feel very welcome in English and gave us excellent advice for our first visit: Speak the language as best you can, but speak it!.

That just set the tone for our whole stay in Panama. We would recommmend this place to any travellers who like to live simply and well. That is what La Estancia offered us. We will definitely stay with them again!

Central to almost everything in Panama City -- only a several Balboa (dollar) cab ride, we will stay there again when we go back to Panama. Not fancy and there may be no TV, but watching the animals and listening to the birds more than compensated. A very reasonably priced place, we also booked all our tours thru La Estancia. A friendly, helpful staff, good breakfasts, there's not too much else you could want.

Great setting, basic, clean, comfortable, excellent breakfast, good value, no complaints. Recommended.
