Just got back from a trip to Nantucket and a three day stay at the Sherburne Inn. This was such a lovely inn in a great location. Susan, the innkeeper, was so wonderful. I had told her my mother had eyesight problems (totally blind in one of her eyes with limited vision in her other eye) when I was inquiring about this inn. She was so kind and suggested the king bedded room on the ground floor. This was such a lovely large room with a big bathroom. The bed was huge and had such wonderful bedding (I could feel that it had a very high thread count). There were comfy robes in the closet and a little vase of flowers in the bathroom. There was even a little fridge tucked into the bookshelves for those who need it. The common sitting rooms were smartly decorated and on a blustery day, there was a cozy fire in the fireplace. Little goodies with tea and coffee in the afternoon and sherry out in the evening. A computer was available for the guests use, as well.
The continental breakfasts were delicious. She had fantastic homemade muffins daily along with bagels and the best english muffins I have ever had (nothing like the ones you buy at the grocery). There was always fresh fruits (fresh fruit salad one day, melon or pineapple with strawberries another day). There was always a bowl of boiled eggs too. Quite a satisfying continental breakfast.
Susan was not intrusive in any way but was very helpful with suggestions for places to eat, sights in town, and sightseeing (she recommended Gail's Sightseeing tour which was quite good).
The innkeepers paid so much attention to details at this lodging that I will recommend it to everyone and will return in the future. Do yourself a favor and stay here!
